Changing Brake pads

Trying to convince the GF to let me change her front brake pads on the 07 GX. Is there any complications with the procedure for a 2 mechanic? I've changed the pads 4 times on my 80.

No, just make sure you put some caliper grease on sides of the pad, the pad, the shims. Helps to prevent any brake squeaks. Other than that, you shouldn't have any problem.

Did you ever do the break job? Any complications? I've changed my breaks on numerous vehicles but would like to know of any "oh sh!t" moments you encountered.

Nothing unusual, standard Toyota style clips, etc.

I recently did the rear brakes on the wife's 06 GX. Bought the pads from Toyota.

It was $4 more dollars for OEM pads than the generics at the chain stores.

Ill gladly pay that little bit more for the real deal.

Also as a hint - buy the pads through the Toyota parts counter rather then Lexus.

Same exact pads and part number, but $10 cheaper. (Same pads as 4-runner, Fj Cruisers, some Tacomas)

Or you can go aftermarket. I LOVE EBC if you do any off highway driving.
