Centre console question

Guys I posted to someone parting out, looking for the centre console fridge and was informed that the US market never got the fridge/icebox. I'm in Australia and I'm trying to get either a newer box as mine is sun damaged or get the later dual lidded lid that gives the extra storage.

I'm wondering if the double console lid can be adapted to used for the icebox lid. Can anyone tell me the measurements are of the double lid so I can work out if this is worth chasing up to modify.

Yes mot. Picture 1 looks like a normal single lid console but doesn't appear to look like a fridge/cooler. Picture 2 definately looks like the cooler with the dual lid though and that's what I'm chasing. Either a replacement cooler shell complete or at least the lid assembly.

That's them Mot in the middle and bottom set of scematics. The two sections that make up the lids. Sorry but I can't read the actual part numbers but the bottom section forms the lid of the cooler and has a storage compartment in it and then the top bit is the lid of the storage section.

If I could get the whole cooler at a good price it might be nice to replace my whole unit but if they are dear then at least the lid sections would make a difference and give me some more useable space.

I presume you are showing me this and have the schematics/microfishe because you can source these?????

If the whole cooler is dear another option is just the front panel but I see in your pictures it does not show seperately and therefore must not be available individually.

On further examination Mot the only thing that's looks confusing is that the middle left picture which appears to be just a console it shows the 2 lid sections and the lower one shows the hinge mechanisms.

In the bottom pictures which ar ethe cooler it doesn't show any hinges for the lower lid section.

I've been in both (I have the double console and a friend has the cooler) and I suspect the double console lid is much smaller.

What might work is putting the whole upper section of the double console on your icebox, but that might sit too tall for comfort.

I think in either case you're not going to find a perfect fit. Both of the regular console style lids sit flat on their surfaces, while the cooler lid had that little 45 degree bend at its latch end. I predict that either console option is going to require some mods to get the latch to work.

We could probably do some measuring for you, but it probably won't be this weekend.

Another option might be the lid from the Lexus 450, which is a whole other size completely (but only ever available in "oak").

If that's the case I'll have to try and track down a double lid for the cooler. I know they exist I've seen a 93 JDM version with one. Was hoping you guys had them in your market so I chase up in the English language.

They exist. A friend of mine has it. I doubt it's worth the trouble of finding. A touch on the cool factor but it doesn't hold much. Just papers and tickets and maybe some loose change. Hardly worth the trouble of the extra lid. Further, the extra lid, being cushioned, serves no purpose other than as a slightly high elbow rest, usually occupied by a passenger who leans in your direction too much.

The cooler is great. Drinks do stay cool even long hours after you shut down the engine. But they don't cool unless you turn on the air con.

Also, I was able to find some pics of the ice box set-up with the double lid deal.

And I'm kind of losing track of what you're after...

Does your rig already have the factory cool/ice box set up and you just want to replace the top with the double-lid set up or your rig does not have the cool/ice box and you want to add on?

I think it's the former, but thought I would clarify it.

I'll post the pics of the actual box in the next post since I can only attach three pics per post.

yes Mot I already have the factory cooler. Depending on price I would like to replace the whole thing as my plastic on the front panel is starting to deteriate. I suspect the whole cooler will be too expensive especially with shipping so I expect it may be more paractical to just get the double lid.

That lid in the last photos is definately the one. In the enlarged diagrams it would be in the last diagram which is the cooler. The first enlarged diagram would appear to be just the standard console and I don't think this lid looks like it would work

If you want the whole console your best bet is to get a used one unless you're made of OZ $$$$ D).
If you want specific part(s) you can point out/circle the components you're interested in.

That's it Mot. pic 3 the grey/gray one. If that's a cooler lid it's the right one - double lid grey in colour/color. My truck is a 90 model VX Sahara with grey interior. Similar to the JDM VX Limited but I think the Aussie spec Sahara actually was more upmarket than the Limited in some respects.

Mot, speaking of which, a new emergency brake handle, 1 ice try for the fridge and the slide cover thingy that hold the ice trays in, cigarette lighter with the part that goes in the dash, the plastic surround for the stero and aircon controls, drivers side front pillar grab handle(light grey), and all the components i will need to put factory diff lock in are what i will be looking for soon if you can help?

No my dog didn't eat the gear knob it was like that when i got it.
