I was thinking that we really should make it mandatory for every truck to have a "working" CB as a safety feature. Communication on the trail is hard enough, trucks without CBs make it impossible. By working (Steve);) , I mean not just mounted but able transmit and receive. How many times did I hear "I have one, it just doesn't work".

I know some want to go with the radios, but time and money make this an issue for most of the members.

CB - $100
Antenna - $100 (Larson or equivalent)(cheap ones useless)
Tuning

For just over $200, we won't be loosing anyone and we will be able to stopping when problems occur.

Case point: Getting Jan's Cruiser down from Loadstone. Jan and Marcin had little Motorolas. Marcin in front for pulling Jan on level and up hills. Mat attached in rear (Jan has no brakes) to slow the downhill parts. Marcin and Jan can communicate with each other, but not with Mat. Problem? You tell me.

I was going to say put together a group buy. I know there are a couple CBs that fit into my ashtray, let me find the model from the 80's forum. See if anyone else wants one then look for a deal..

Well I pulled an old CB out of Millson's garbage can and that will have to do for me. I've already spent too much money on VHF that nobody else will get their license for!
Besides, how can we make CBs mandatory if we can't even get half our members to join or renew their TLCA membership?

Wave your hands, create 48 hours of time in a 24hr day, then let me know...

Other then that...I guess I will look into mine this winter :D

I've been building a "time stretching" machine from old Land Cruiser parts
It's been in the works for a few years now. As soon as I get some spare time to finish it, we can all get our VHF Licenses, finish our Cruiser projects and help Garry C. get his Cruiser done.

Time Machine out of Cruiser parts,I can see how that's possable. But a machine to help get Garry C's Cruiser done, now your just being silly.

your right Bill,so mabe if he starts now on a Cruiser inspired wheel chair he might be able to do some wheelin.

has anyone called a CB shop saying we are a club and will have many members buying crap there? like marcin said what about a group buy? We dont all need to buy the same thing, just spend alot of money.

I picked up mine in Mission at PM Radio (I think that's the name), he did the tuning once installed and the service was excellent and knowledgeable. I know that it's a bit far for a lot of people but it's an option. I you guys want me to call him I can, just let me know how many people need/want one (incl. antenna, etc.). I am sure we can work out a good deal.

There's also ComWest Radio on Main St. near S.E. Marine Dr. in Vancouver. Stan there helped out quite a bit when I was trying to get the club into VHF radio and gave us a special price on the I-Com V8 unit we bought for the Xmas raffle prize that Paul won. We should at least give him a call and see what he can do.
