Guys I'll look through the threads but here is what I'm doing.

I have a aftermarket rear bumper with two swing outs. Drivers side is the spare tire mount and passenger side is the dual gas can mount. I've decided to mount my approx 3foot fiberglass antenna with spring, to the gas can mount using a surface stainless stell right angle mount...

My radio is mounted to the rear of my tuffy type center console and I'll run the antenna coax under the carpet and rear seat etc..back to the rear cargo door. I plan on drilling a hole and running the coax out to the antenna mount while providing enough slack so the swing out arm can full flex / pivot etc.

Any good ideas on where to drill? THere appears to be a fairly large gap between the lower portion of the tail gate and the passenger side fender...I'm tempted to look for a flat surface there (soemewhat high) and do that...would rather avoid dirlling hole through external painted surface....I guess too I could drill through the floor in the inner fender welll (rear) some where that would not be an issue and then route cable back along the frame toward the rear bumper area.

Any pictures or ideas? I want a fixed mount and it has to be tough since we go thorugh a lot of areas where low branches play hell on my former antenna.

Post up ideas or pictures please.

I emptied all the crap from the cargo bed, threw out the old carpet while messing around. I decided to drill a hole on the inside lip in the area where the gap is (you can see in the picture above. Gap on the edge of the tail gate between the tail light. I installed a grommet and ran the wire in that way...the hole is about the level of just below the tail gate (dcided I did not want to run wire underneath). Took me forever to find the right grommet...finally lowes of all places had one.

GOing to run the wire inside the passenger side trim (took the panel off the passenger side cargo area and will run wire forward from there...under the rear seat and carpet to the radio.

Wanted a permanent solution and I guess now it have one.

Eeven though my truck is no cream puff, I hated drilling through the body but after a while it seemed as if that was the only way to make it work and I'll finish it up tomorrow.

Headed up to Golden Mtn (TN) Sat...so I've got to get motivated. :)

I'll have to be in pretty deep water for this to ever be a concern and I have the wiring setup where the rain and so forth is not coing to follow the coaz inside the vehcile as the wire runs up hill..from the antenna.

There is a hole with a rubber plug under the center console. You could run the coax along the carrier and under the rig, use some type of protection (section of water hose, wire wrap, pvc pipe, etc) for the coax, making sure it's not going to get pinched or melt and come up through that rubber plug. Use plenty of wire ties too. I haven't done this on my 60 yet but that's what I'm thinking about doing.

I dirlled a hole on the inside lip of the rear quarter panel somewhat near the tail gate hinge and used a grommet....routed coax into the truck and then along the passenger side inner panel , under what carpet I have to the radio.
