Want to hear more about this electric steering assist please abqcruiser.

I'll try and post something in the next couple of weeks. I'll be out of town next week. If you are interested, search on the 40, 55 tech thread. There are a few who have set up their 40's with that system. In fact Racer 65 sells a kit for the 40. At the time, I thought I was the only one trying it on a land cruiser, turns out I wasn't. I may, however, be the first to try it on a pig.

The electric power steering assist is very cool....but 'cha-ching' its expensive. @City Racer is stocking and selling the kit. On ebay motors, do a search for "Land Cruiser Electric Power Steering" and you will see the kit.

Mine was no where near that. I spent less than $500.00 for parts. I did spend countless hours trying to figure out how to do it though.

When you start the thread I am in on this learning. I am very interested not $2000 interested but couple hundred bucks would be awesome upgrade.

After time and money well spent, I think/hope, I have my caster issues resolved. I ended up buying the OME lift kit out of Cruiser Outfitters. The overall ride quality is greatly improved. Initially, I put in 2 degree casters and took it down the road to the alignment shop. Their measurements showed a 1 degree caster angle. I still didn't like the feel of the steering, but before going further, I checked the pinion angle. Another 2 degrees down would put the pinion angle in line with transfer's output flange. So now I have 4 degree shims, somewhere around a 3 degree caster, and a perfect pinion angle. The steering response is right where I feel it should be. I still have the electric power assist dialed all the way down. Here's a few pics:

Nice looking rig. You won't regret the spring kit. I too have the Cruiser Outfitters spring kit, and its the best upgrade I have made. It's been on my rig for several years now and many road/trail miles. The ride quality is still there, firm but not harsh.
I hope one day my 55 looks as good as yours!
