Carburetor rebuild?

There are several excellent carb whispers on the forum. One of them who has been doing it for ages is Mark Algazy. (@65swb45) Mark is old school and he only conducts his business over the telephone. I believe that you were already provided his contact information in response to your Dipstick question. It is Mark's Offroad.

It's not all hard, there are really good vids. If you are missing parts and things like fittings are stripped out then its likely well worth the pro's help. I'm getting ready to do my Rochester - I bought an 3L ultra sonic cleaner and a gallon of carb juice for it >$150.

Thanks so much for the info

I would never take away from this forum and the experts doing great work. That said, sometimes there is lead time that can be lengthy. I had a carb rebuilt from this link and it is a work of art.

Inasmuch as I do have over 50 dipsticks, I'd be happy to toss one in with your rebuild.😉

I think that number is low and your underestimating your girth of dipsticks :meh:

BTW yogi... there are a few here on mud that are great at carb rebuilds... Mark aka 65swb45 is one of them and is highly recommended

Best shop to rebuild my Aisan carbuertor for my 62 FJ40?
just now seeing this thread. I rebuilt my carb for my 1970 fj40 about a year ago. Not sure if you decided on having it rebuilt at a shop or if you are doing it yourself. I beleive the carbs may be different but i do know that toyota dealerships still sell the idle checkball, if this helps.

Started the teardown. Under the category of 'just when you think you've seen it all...'

For starters: undersized 1/4” fuel inlet of unknown origin, feeding fuel to a solid needle (spring and pin were MIA so someone cut a solid rollpin) attached to a non-swiveling, chopped up float. The float literally will not move up or down.

There’s more. The large check ball was stuffed into the accelerator pump chamber, sealing it off. The copper tube for the vacuum advance is pinched shut. Main jet MIA, replaced with aMikuni jet of unknown size.

Thank you for your expertise, honesty, and promptness. I wish everybody that I deal with had the integrity that you do.
