I am trying to find a carburetor adapter plate that fits onto a 1f motor - to either a Weber 38 or an Aisin 2 barrel. Can someone please shed some light on this. Seems like when Toyota went to the 2f motor they made the intake about 6mm larger in both directions. Is red line the only option for an adapter plate? My project had a Holley 4412 on it, I have the adapter plate for it. Is there a different carb I should be looking at. I have read a lot of posts, a lot of people say to stay with the Aisin others say they have had good luck with the Weber. I simple want something that will start all the time - the Holley won’t give me that, can’t seem to get the low speed idle down without the carb dumping fuel in.

there was an adapter to go from 1bbl to 2bbl... not so easy to find I would say... there was also an adapter from 2bbl to 1bbl that however is a nice thing to hand on the wall :)

redline I think still sells most likely the 1bbl to Weber adapter.... I don't think it work for the OEM 2bbl as its more of a height issue... but... don't quote me on that... memory has been iffy lately :)

I'm having trouble picturing what you need. A 2 barrel Aisin carb will fit on most LandCruiser intake manifolds without an adapter plate, that's one of the nice things about keeping it Toyota. An F intake manifold will probably fit a 2F head with maybe just a little tiny bit of grinding. I'm running a '73 carb on a '69 intake manifold on a '74 head on a '76 block. No adapters needed. Post pics of what you're working with

It would help if you listed what year F engine you're working on. Most came with 2 barrel manifold.

Really need to go by which F engine. F105, F120 and F135 were all one barrel. Not sure any F105s were imported but some F120 were in FJ25s. The F145 had a two barrel manifold. Those were 9/67-9/69.

Back in 1974 it was a adapter and Rochester carburetor that Man-A-Fre was selling for the one barrel manifold.
The two barrel manifold with a one barrel carburetor was standard on the 68 model. Not sure when on the 69 model it changed. That was an OEM adapter and hard to find now. This is in the US market. Sure other markets not having emissions had the two barrel carburetor earlier on the F145. As for wall art my 68 has a factory one barrel. Had two Holleys carburetors in the past but never ran off road like the factory one barrel. Climbing hills off road at 7,000' elevation it would not stall down to 400 RPM.

Man-A-Fre still sells the kit with the Weber and adapter plate (along with some other stuff). I have this on my '70 FJ-40 (1F) and it has worked great for many years.

Your 70 had an F155 from the factory which is a two barrel. There was a rare F135 two barrel intake manifold. Never imported but a few have shown up over the years. There was also a large window two barrel carburetor for it.

To to clarify there was never a 1F engine. They were F follow by three numbers. Once the 2F started they were all 2Fs 11/84 when block change and was shorter it was the 3F. 2F continued for a few years in some market like the US. Guess that was because the 2F passed US emissions and Toyota decided to wait for fuel injection 3FE 8/80 to make the change. The 3F also changed the bellhousing. Toyota changed to the 3F bellhousing and associated transmission crossmember 4/85. It also included a dummy spacer on the back to match the length of the H55F. This standardized a lot of parts in the 60 series in different markets.
