I've search the forums and the SOR Carb ID page (https://www.sor.com/cat/042d) and I'm for a loss. I have a 1/73 FJ40 and the Aisin carb that I have doesn't have a date stamped on top; it shows 3F12 on top. During my googleweb search I found that an Aisin 3F12 carb came in a mid-1980s FJ60 and was not available in an FJ40, Also, that some people have built a hybrid carb using 3F12 main body / float bowl + 2F air horn (top), but I don't see how that's possible. Also, my carb doesn't all of the vacuum lines that the 3F12 does.

Here's my confusion. Picture #1 shows the markings for the carb, 3F12. Picture #2 shows the top, the newer carb shows a there is no center air-horn screw. Picture # 3 shows the linkage. Picture #4 shows the window, you'll notice that it is a round window instead of the batman one like on the newer carbs. Picture #5 shows the Idle Solenoid, which is different than the newer carbs. I want to sell it, but I want to make sure I have the right description.

Does anyone have any idea what I have?

Believe that date code would be a June ‘73 carb.

My FJ was manufactured in 1/73. However, if what you say is correct, it could be a replacement carb. Thanks Will

The fitting above the fuel inlet is supposed to be a banjo compression fitting in 1973. Before that, it was a cap screw, which also compressed over that hole with a washer that fit into the recess. Yours has only a plug. The odds are that the plug has some kind of sealant on it. And as M11 is not a readily available size, it’s also possible that the carb has been reamed out to some other size for which a plug is more readily available.

Those are things a prospective buyer would want to know, since you say that you are selling it.
