I have a stock '82 carb and the cold idle kick-up plate (the 4-stepped piece attached to the choke linkage) just sort of flops around and won't engage with the choke. I have studied this carb and a few others and cannot see how it can work. (This plate gives you partial hold-open of the throttle at cold temps/choke-on conditions). This is a one-owner truck and has not been boogered with - this plate never wants to engage, so I never get 'fast idle'.
Does anyone know of a fix, or is just 'tired old carb' syndrome?
Thanks - Steve
