ok it seems that this feature can simply be activated at the dealership. Unfortunately the dealers here seem to be oblivious to this fact. They dont even know what i am talking about. has anybody watched how its done. i will be able to ask them to connect the computer but might be better if i already know how to go to the menu that allow me to modify these features...

Do you have a laptop? The Techstream cable and software is only $25-30, depending on where you buy it. They will probably charge you more than that just to make this change.

What kind of laptop do I need to run Techstream? This question is not just for me. I have talked to others who have wondered the same about minimum requirements. Input from every one would be great.

If you were to build a working Techstream system, what is needed?

You don't need a dedicated laptop. My "garage" laptop is an 8 year old Dell Latitude, running Windows 10. Should work on Windows 8 or probably 7. The software isn't very big or power intensive. I'm not sure about Apple products though, if they are even supported.

FYI, here's what Toyota currently specifies for PC Minimum Requirements if one is using officially licensed Techstream software:

I'm using an 11 year old laptop. I wanted it to run as smooth as possible so I made a separate, bootable Windows 7 partition that has nothing installed except for car diagnostic software like Techstream, Pasoft, BMW Edibias, etc.

I also recommend investing in a good battery charger like a CTEK or similar so you don't drain the car battery during longer coding/diagnostic sessions.

From what I read, the car should be running when doing coding changes..

Ya don't tell my truck that, I always do everything with the engine off.

Good info, thank you. Are all adapter cables that plug in to the cruiser or is there one you all have found to be more reliable, or am I thinking of the OBDII port. What version do I need for my 2011.

If I knew what I was doing here on mud and could type better I would start a new post with all of this info on it. I keep gathering little bits of info here and there but not as much as these last couple of responses.
