Oh - and how do you like the Partner Stove?

I've currently got a Century stove and talked to the Camp Chef guys at the Outdoor Retail show about the Everest.

(Note: Thought it was somewhat funny the the Camp Chef guys had never heard of Partner Stove.)
Picked these up at an auction earlier this month--Navy surplus instrument cases--wheels and retractable handles. Got the two larger ones almost full for the Grand Canyon trip-Everything to do with shelter is in one case-tent/s-bags/poles/stakes/ground tarp/mattress/toilet/privy/all paracord for support/----and there's still room!
The next larger case houses all the kitchen stuff---stove/table/pot/pans/utensils/chuckbox stuff-even got 2 cast dutch ovens in there.--
Just a pain to get all the foam out so you have room--
I like the organization of the pelican cases--Think I need to modify these to better use the space as was posted.

Thanks for the encouragement Smooth.

The Partner Steel is everything you've heard... built well, super simple and very easy to get the right results beyond your typical "camp stove". I found my Camp Chef's very functional but not well built. I used up a Rainer in one season. Even my colemans are still serviceable.

Bottom line I'm glad I made the investment in the PS - I dont anticipate ever needing anything else.

Oh and if you want a funny read go to Expo Portal and find the BOB post there... some of these guys were down right angry you could spend more than $200 on a go bag :-)

Instead of a strip of metal and gluing magnets, why not use Velcro? Most hardware stores now sell a wide variety of sizes & forms including sticky backed rolls of it. I use it a lot in my A/V work to secure small power supplies or AppleTV's behind a display. It can be surprisingly strong. This should also be lighter than a strip of metal and magnets too.

Just another small recommendation, I always put the soft side of the Velcro on the item I might be handling because it's more comfortable. Just my OCD preference.

@MTKID Thanks for the suggestion. I do use Velcro a lot and if you look in the photo of the Pelican you can see some already in place holding knives and the red utensil bag. I'm going magnetic on the spices because I find the Velcro actually works too well. The magnets have just the right amount "give" when you remove a bottle. Instead of a metal strip as first mentioned I'm using Magnetic tape. Each bottle has a tiny steel washer glued to the bottom.

:grinpimp:This is great, yet another truck project that I can keep the economy and GDP afloat for Q3-2015

@pillguy Glad you are inspired

All: I tested the mag tape and washer idea on the bottles - FAIL. The spice bottles have a concave bottom so the washer makes insufficient contact with the mag tape.

Tried Velcro as suggested by @MTKID - same issue as mg tape and washer. FAIL.

Going to try my original plan. It looks like the magnets I have will clear the concave bottom. I will report back.

Bought a hardshell suitcase at a flea market that i converted to a portable kitchen.

Some aluminum sheet metal leftovers, rivets and hinges was all that was needed.

The aluminum plate can be taken out and used as a stand/ table for the stoves.

I posted this photo under the Cooking thread..but you could use some velcro with these to stick them to the lid of your camp box! Easy to keep track of and organized ! Now...go eat a bunch of Tic Tacs!

These are a good idea! Don't know how long the seal will last for pre-ground spices, but for a short week or so trip, they should serve well.-If you pack them with whole seed, they will last a LOT longer, just need a small grinder to prep before using-or just use the old mortar/pestle thing.
