Ugh…sorry for someone’s loss!
Might be a good opportunity for someone but I’d know the salvage title process intimately and how insurance will be handled going forward.
After my ‘86 M1028 CUCV 6.0 LQ4, 4L80E, NP205, etc swapped was totaled (not my fault). I elected to keep the truck. I was told by my insurance company I could no longer get full coverage and that I would have a difficult time in the future getting another settlement on a salvage titled vehicle should the other driver be at fault. Even if I went thru the process to get the vehicle “rebuilt” and a rebuilt branded title.
For clarity I’m not saying this because I’m bidding on this 45 and I’m trying to discourage your from bidding. Just my recent experience from earlier this year.

I hadn’t considered that the frame was still straight. I saw it more as a donor.

Without the fire and clean title doubt it would sell for $50k? Would like to know what they used to put that value on it. Pre seventeen digit VIN not to hard to do away with a salvage title. Particularly if in another state. I gave my daughter and her husband a 79 FJ40. Gave them the title. Few years later when they got a divorce I got back. They had never transferred the title and couldn't find the title I gave them. Because it hadn't been registered for a few years it was purged from the system. Short VIN no way to search it. Few years later I found a photo copy I made of the. The title number got a replacement title no problem. Title number allowed it to be searched and found not the VIN. Seventeen digit places like CarFax will show a salvage title was issued.
