BMan-
thanks 4 the kind words. He's used to gettin hell from me for driving a Jeep, so He's pretty used to it.

Phil-
You can count me and my buddy in. I cant seem to get the whole PM thing to work, but we would really like to go. Let me know what we need to do. Thanks!

Phil and I went to the ranger station and preran the trail last night. In order to avoid everybody having to get a permit in person at the station, we have a "cleanup" permit allowing all club members on the run as forest service volunteers. Non club members are welcome, but we will need name and license number before the run. The trail is very clean, but bring a plastic bag and put whatever you find in it.

I ran it in all wheel drive (center diff lock is not working  ) stock trucks will need careful wheel placement in some places, for clearance. I was impressed with how scenic it is, being basically a park in town, the locked gate policy is working in this case. The brush was tight in a few places, it's no longer a problem due to aggressive use of the loppers last night, even Rhino's custom paint job will make it without a scratch. :D

Meeting place; QT Gas Station southwest corner of Recker and Mc Dowell, get off the 202 at Recker and one mile south. From the meeting place, run the trail and back to the meeting place is only 25 miles or so, not much gas is need. :grinpimp:

Pull out time; 6:00 PM

Things to bring, flashlights to checkout the tarantulas, plenty of water and good shoes for stumbling around in the dark on rocks. :D

Restriction for this area include;
NO shooting.
NO glass containers.
Dogs must be on a leash not more than 6' long.
Tread lightly, this area was closed and now reopened on a permit system, by following the rules, cleaning up others junk, maintaining the trail, etc., we increase the odds of it staying open to enjoy in the future. We are looking at a couple of other club runs in this area.

I will post a map to the meeting place soon.

Phil is having Internet issues, hopefully resolved soon.

As Kevin said All CSC members are signed up for the run. Also Dave Cook and Robert Guderian are included because they emailed me in time. If you are not a CSC member (shame on you) and would like to go you have 2 choices 1> obtain your own permit (free) prior to the run 2> PM me and we will see if you can be added to the CSC voluntary services list for Sat..

This is a great night run and temps will be 10 degrees cooler this Sat so be cool and show up

I may have to back out of this one now. My company is donating lighting and audio packages to the Cave Creek Emergency Relief Fund for the Red Cross this Saturday. I guess five bars in Cave Creek will be raising money for hurricane Katrina victims, through a series of benefit concerts and we are now involved in lighting and audio packages throughout these venues. From what I gather it will run from noon to midnight Saturday with some very good local talent playing. I will know more how much of my time will be volunteering on Saturday for the set and for tech work on the sound boards and lighting by tomorrow.

You know I was really F:censor:g looking forward to this run.

If it ends up not being a 17 hour gig as it stands now, I may see you all with my niños in tow.

If I cannot PM Landcruiser Phil how can I go? Where can I get a permit and what type is it? Could anyone else take my info to put on the CSC permit?

Meeting place- QT Gas Station southwest corner of Recker and Mc Dowell, get off the 202 at Recker and one mile south.

Departure- 6:00 PM

Enter Usery Pass road #3554 East (4 miles) South on #10 (6 miles) exit AJ (Approx. Idaho and Mc Kellips)

Weather for Saturday night - Clear skies. Low 73F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph. Sunset 6:42 pm

The Forest Service head ranger was not real thrilled with issuing a group clean-up permit for the night. Pictures and weight will be submitted as agreed. Trash will be a challenge to find. Sounds like a good time to clean out your Cruiser so bring along a plastic trash bag and a flashlight for the clean up.

I dont know if the Mesa Range District is open on Saturday. You can call them at 480.610.3300. and its very close to the meeting spot and pick up a free permitt.

From the Blue Point entry trail #10 to the #3554 junction is just a 2 mile dirt road across flat desert. The Usery Pass trail #3554 runs a wash, has a cool little hill climb and has much better views, one of the reasons for the earlier start time is the view coming into the canyon at sunset. Trail #3554 joins #10 just where 10 gets good and we run it all the way down.

Arghhh... Sorry to ditch out last minute. My wife and I were already to go with a babysitter lined up and everything. I took my girls to run some errands at 4PM, and my cruiser wouldn't start at 4:30 when I went to go home. So when y'all were taking off, I was loading my cruiser onto the tow truck :frown: I'm having some fuel issues that the PO was battling before I bought it. Fuel pump relay was jumpered. I think there is an open (or an intermittent open anyway) in the fuel pump resistor circuit. So all this time the fuel pump's been running on high speed. Not sure if it went south or not. I got it to start, but wouldn't idle for more than 15 seconds at most. So more troubleshooting for me this week. Hope the trip was good. On a good note, I am almost done with my Hellroaring dual battery installation. All parts mounted and wires run to control switch, just need to install and hookup batteries. :)
