This 45 is no longer for sale. It is getting a resurrection of some sort. The body and drive train are being sold in the classifieds.

Edit:3/28/19, I took it to a shop to have the engine tuned. It is running good and drives without issue. They also put it on a dyno and it currently put out 237 HP and 296 Torque to the rear wheels in 2nd gear. New asking price is 16,000.

Edit: 1/21/19, I bought an 80 series so I am no longer looking for full trades but I am open to a partial 80, 60, or 62 series trade rust free and a clean body.

My wife has told me no matter what I do or how nice i make this she is not riding in it, so I have thought this over again and again and figure I will again put it for sale. [/B]

I acquired this in July of 2018 and thought I would be able to hold on to it. Family reasons are forcing me to part with it. I will address a few things right away to avoid getting beat up to bad. I paid $14000 for it, got it home and spent over $4000 to install the Holley Stealth Ram MPI Fuel system, with a Radium surge tank, and more 99% all new parts. So I am into it now for over 19,800. I am now asking $16,000 for it which is a significant loss but I would like to get it to it's next home. It is located in Northern New Mexico. I am not offended by offers either but I feel like I am giving up a fair amount already.

The link below is the add that I purchased the vehicle from.
For Sale - 1965 fj45 new price 14000.00

The link below is from when this cruiser was listed here in 2012. My understanding is that the person listed in this add paid a shop in Arkansas to build the drive train for this 45.
1965 FJ45 Removable Top SWB For Sale - AR

This is a one of kind cruiser. With the value of FJ45s these days you would be crazy to take a decent SWB Removable top FJ45 and modify it like this. I wouldn't but since someone else already has long before prices on these went crazy I feel comfortable saying you probably wont find to many original SWB FJ45s modified like this. This is what I like about this rig. In owning this rig one gets an original piece of hard to find Land Cruiser history and a lot of modern advancements that make this rig pretty damn cool, very capable, and usable.

Needs
  • Windshield is cracked but I have a replacement not installed.
  • Windshield vent rubber needs replaced. I have this piece too but needs installed
  • Oil pan has a leak. I have a new oil pan and gasket but it needs
A little extra history as much as I could dig up about the rig. A picture of this rig was found in a toyota trail magazine from the 90s (added pictures of the articles.) The original build and conversion to a flat bled occurred in the 90s or earlier. The rig was located in California until around 2011-2012 when it moved to Arkansas and owned buy a guy named Alan who I understand had the 383 stroker built and installed along with some of the drivetrain pieces before selling it to someone else in the area in 2012. I don't know the history for the middle owner but I bought it from forum member onebadlc who owned it for two years and says most of the time he just drove it to town.

I could probably help. Send me a pm or text with details.

I am open to a partial 80 series trade rust free and a clean body. I would need at least 10,000 plus a trade to make it work.

Needs a new home.

Come on people this is a smoking deal! Go buy a rusty truck ( if you can find one) spend 30 plus thousand on on it ( very conservative estimate) when you can buy this for a fraction of the build price! Just throwing in my two cents worth Dennis!

I found a fairly clean one in Calif. for $4k. Needs an engine. Which works great as i picked up a 1hz/h41/toybox for $6k.

so whats my fraction @ $10k all in? :hmm:

Selling price is more relevent to market alternatives than what it cost to build typically.

Sounds like you will have a cool fj45 when you have all the parts put together. I hope to see a build thread on your project.

Your 10K all in purchase of parts that have not been fitted together I do not think is an equal comparison to the 45 I am selling. The cost and time for fitting a non factory drive train will cost more than your all in price. There are a lot of little things that will add up. In addition to what you need to do with the axles and driveshafts, power steering, custom radiator, etc... I have a hard time believing that you will be able to assemble your project with similar build specs. as the 45 for sale here for 4k or less. All in all you still have a decent amount of work to do before you can make an apples to apples type cost comparison on what you purchased to this 45. No matter at the end of the day you will have a 45 that suits you and I am sure it will be really nice.

I agree that the actual build cost for this type of rig generally does not translate to a final sale value. This is reflected in my continued price drop, currently I will loose a lot at my current listed price of 14k. At the end of the day these rigs are only worth the negotiated price of what one will pay and what one will sell it at. So many other things can obviously affect the sale price as well.

Let us know when you start your build thread.

I have a set of new 37x12.50r17 Toyo MTs that I can include in this sale for another 1000. I paid $1400+ for the tires, so I would loose money on them as well. Vehicle asking price would be 16,000 with new tires.

Someone NEEDS to buy this damn rig already

Please post what $4000 will buy nowadays, would love to see a build thread. What part of Ca. did it come from?
