Building up Papa Smurf

planning on having some paint work done on Papa, what do yall think of the white roof on this 60? Kind of a throw back look to the 40s I am thinking, plus seems like it would be cooler inside from the sun when the truck is parked.

Well, got the old tank pulled





the Seal-All did its job for 2 weeks but I don't know how much longer it would have lasted. It had made like a gasoline blister, while I was man handling the tank it popped.






Also, check out then way the tank vents are routed





They vented the tank to itself. Lol


Before I can put the new tank in I am going to have to find a tap and die in what ever thread the drain plug us in. It is cross threaded as hell... Thanks cruiser parts...

Good to see the progress bud, nasty looking spot on that old tank. I'd put a good epoxy paint job on it so you'll get years of worry free use out of it

I bought a few cans of 3M undercoating. going to pressure wash the tank, use some osphoon a few surface rust spots it has, then undercoat the whole tank. not 100% sure how I am going to run a vent on it looks like all the original stuff to pipe it to the charcoal canaster was removed. also I think I got mixed up on which of the hardlines are the fuel suction and which wa the return >.<



I should be abl to check with vaccum though think.

Ok I am not a happy camper. Started prepping the tank to close it up so I can pressure wash and paint it. The flange the fuel pickup and return screws to only has one screw hole with threads, one of the holes has a broken screw stuck in it, already fixed the cross threaded drain plug, and while i was getting ready to pressure wash it I found a hole rusted in the top of the tank.

Took those jokers a damn month to send me the first one. I wonder how long it will take them to get another one.


So now I have two Toyota paperweights in my shed. Until I get another new tank.

Just got word that my fuel tank was delivered last night, Cant wait to get home and inspect it.

Not thinking I am going to make the razorback ramble this year, was really hopin too but the truck is still open open, and I am flat broke after last hitch at home. Kind of a bummer.

Glad to hear it, you could still do a lot of wheeling out there open open especailly if its dry

I know, just I missed my chance to register and the money issue is the biggest reason not to go really. I really want to do some camping bad.
