building my first redneck winch bumper

"havin a go and learnin", about sums this project up for first go at buildin this simple winch bumper. i have to admit that i'm "reasonably" happy with progress so far...
i got a local machine shop to "form" the 1/4" plate extensions for the bumper.

Cool,I should have a go at something like this myself. Are you going to have some slots for the hilift jack?

thanks

now you come to mention it, yes i think i will incorporate some slots for the hilift jack, good

Some cut T shaped slots in the front face of the bumper and others weld brackets under the bumper.
The brackets take another inch off the ground clearance uless you welded them to the top.
The slots cut into the face look the best

if you take a close look at the bumper i made there is also 2 more 'braces' that go back to the outter mount holes on the original frame cross member. the idea of all that stress on those TINY frame horns make me nervous...

yer, those horns aren't exactly generous, so as you suggest Wayne, the extra braces will be attached.
