Also on the schedule for next few weeks are:
birf service
control arms/suspension bushings replaced
E Lockers

Installed a Ram ball mount in the useless cubby to hold my telephone and radio, haven’t given it the washboard test yet but seems pretty solid

That’s about it for this week, headed down towards Dillon MT tomorrow for a weekend of camping and some wheeling (in the 100series) with the 406 Cruisers club.

Really love my 450 and trying to enjoy the process of getting it ship shape and ready for service.

Got the rear bumper back on the truck along with the receiver hitch and spare tire last night.

Spare tire lift works great, raised the front 3in and the rear 2-ish, flush with the bumper cross support. If I didn’t have the receiver hitch on there the tire would be hanging down hilariously.

Excited to mount these sliders later this week or next, metaltech did a fantastic job wrapping them up for shipping including a new moving blanket for each. These sliders are heavy.

Tomorrow the 450 goes to overland cruisers for new control arms, panhard bushings, etc- basically all new suspension rubber.

Still waiting for a quote to fix my rust holes, body shop guy says I’ll need a rear passenger panel replacement. Yikes

sorry about your rust pains... i went through it all myself. i was lucky and already knew how to fix it myself. if your paying a shop, the bill might really add up. if you ever wanted to learn how to fix rust, now would be the time to do it. you would get a free welding machine out of the deal after the savings of not paying for another guys labor. either way, i have body cuts for behind both rear wheels and in front of the passenger rear wheel in MN if you end up needing them

Thank you very much for the comments and you are certainly right. Hate to say that I got the body shop quote and it wasn’t astronomical so I’m going to let them do it.

Everyone get ready to roll your eyes

I sold another vehicle to finance this 450 and I thought surely this will cover the truck, necessary repairs and plenty left over for wheeling accessories right?!

Well the mechanic today found a ‘new’ leak on the front of the engine in the vicinity of the oil pump- sounds like I’m heading to head gasket city.

Anyway, couple boxes of Trail Tailor goodies showed up today:

Stupid is as stupid does

I’m not sure the head gasket will present itself as an exterior engine leak in the vicinity of the oil pump. Wasn’t your mechanic referring to an oil leak?

Oil pump seal or cam half-moons are probably your oil leak.

Agree with FJB40, just did my oil pump seal and crankcase seal as it was dripping only under pressure. The super thin seal gets brittle and drips under pressure. Watch out for the JIS Phillips screws and replace them. One of them didn’t come out easily creating a hell of a day.
