I know, but this was worth it. I was going to drill it out and that just sounded horrible.Hey B…. That sinking feeling when an attempt goes wrong…glad this worked. By the way, yuk!
What size wire are you using in the MiG?
Just flux for now, my goal is to get some practice in and eventually fix a few spots on the 40. I’ll switch to a gas shielding for that.Well, hoping .030. I think…it’s a better starting wire for developing your “touch” . I started 40 years ago with ac/dc rods. Took a little effort to get the feel. I also use .023 but it needs a little more finesse.
Are you also using gas or flux wire
Definitely not $28 anymore. .023 is great for sheet metal. My fabricator uses it for almost everything when he’s not TIG welding.FYI; when I first started MiG, I was able to rent a gas bottle for about $28.00/month until I had eventually bought my own. Made a very nice difference in the outcome

Good call out! I’ll do more research before I buy. Definitely more research than I did when I bought my cruiserBe aware I BELIEVE tanks carry a 5 yr visual inspection cert. so if you find one, be sure it is fillable. This may have changed since I started using tanks but that is what I remember. Now, the people who fill mine basically just swap a tank for mine and it is about $30
