The build this coming weekend has been postponed due to an illness in the Reeves family. I'll keep everyone up to date on a future build date to finish everything up. It will probably be this summer sometime to give everyone lots of lead time.

Thanks again for everyone's help. I and the Reeves appreciate it very much.

Hey everyone.

This event is coming up soon - all day Feb 12th and 13th in Watkinsville GA. We have use of a full service auto garage just around the corner from where the initial event was held.

A big thanks to Larry for helping to check out the 40. Now I need help from everyone gathering parts we need.

I have a list from Larry posted in the main event thread here. Please post up on the main event thread or in this thread any questions you have or any parts or supplies you have that you would like to donate to the event.

If anyone would like to help offer a bit of time organizing this event I would also very much appreciate it. I'm pretty swamped with work and could use all the help I can get. (insert jokes here)

:cheers:

Just to make things easier, cut and paste from the other thread:

PARTS NEEDED

* Fine spline hubs
* Axle breathers Steve
* Rollbar Tie-Ins to frame: ACC still has them from last build
* Brake fluid Larry
* Clutch fluid
* Engine coolant Larry
* Gear oil Larry
* Running (side marker) lights are missing (left front & rear; right rear)
* Rear seal for t-case
* Front window felt and rubber water deflector need to be replaced [left and right]
* Front door latches are very worn. They should be replaced. [left and right]
* Front door strikers need to be replaced [left and right]
* Under seat tool box if one is available - might help with seat mounting
* Rear emblems missing
* Rear reflectors missing
* Seat belts: Has only lap belts, but shoulder/lap belts are needed (basic safety)
* Rear tire carrier is incomplete (missing center bracket which the tire actually bolts to)
* Heater Coolant shut off is needed. The original F engine would have had a valve at the heater hose outlet so hot coolant would not be flowing into the truck in the summer. Since this is a 2F, a shut off valve of some nature should be added.
* If anyone has fairly basic bumpers (front or rear) or sliders that could bolt on to provide extra protection to passengers this would be nice. They don't have to be new - we can scuff and raddle can.

THINGS WE NEED TO DO

* Speedometer and Temperature gauge are not working, figure out why
* Brake fluid needs to be flushed (already blackening)
* Clutch fluid needs to be flushed (same as brakes)
* Engine coolant is low
* Need to add plug over open hole on air cleaner (I think it is hose that would go to air pump on later model)
* Left rear brake light needs to have lens in stalled (James said that he has it)
* Left rear combination light (brake & running): brake light works but running does not [could just be a bulb or there could be a wiring problem]
* Transfer case is leaking into parking brake drum [expect rear seal will need to be replaced]
* Tub rust in several areas
* Hood has a lot of bondo on it and it has chipped off in several spots [no obvious damage visible from the underside so I don’t know why there is bondo there to begin with]
* Fiber glass top has a lot of filler added around the edge such that gutter is mostly filled with filler [probably was leaking and was filled to stop it; was it the right filler to last? How much corrosion is buried? i.e. is there a buried problem that we need to dig into?]
* Transfer case shift boot: Is not attached. In place but not bolted to tunnel cover because it looks like the tunnel cover has not holes
* Transmission shift boot: It is there but again not attached. It looks very generic like it was meant for any vehicle
* Rear jump seat need to be installed. This will require fabrication of brackets to allow off-setting of seats due to roll bar install
* Rear hatch lifts and latching needs to be fixed (missing bolts, broken bolts in hatch) [James said that Oscar removed the hardware from right side when he inspected the truck, so we need to review this with Oscar]
* Steering is reported to have play and possible ‘sticking’
* Braking is reported to be good (rear brakes should be set up and we should show the Reeves family how to do this since it needs to be done regularly)
* Choke may not be hooked up properly because it does not start well in cold weather
* Running boards are not installed. James said that he has them, but the bottoms of the fenders are cut off so the boards cannot be bolted to the fenders. [???? Plans]

Based on last night's moving speech I think I'd like to come along for part deux.

I did a lot of body work on my old '40. If no one objects I'd like to focus my attention on the hood. At the very least I can sand down / remove all of the bad bondo work, clean it up and get it all primed for paint. Does the hood have latch hardware already?

Steven,
It has the hardware to latch the hood down, but it is missing the bump stop and latches to hold the windshield when it is folded down. Thanks

Timely response! I was going to ask what kind of accommodations there will be for this event. Surely he doesn't want to have all of us crashing at his place, so if you can send along some hotel info that would be great!

Don't forget we can cash in our TLCA discount at a Red Roof if there's one nearby.

Let's meet at the Krogers Shopping Center in Athens at 9:30. this is the usual meeting place for our Durhamtown trips.

kroger - Google Maps

from there we'll caravan the 10-15 inutes into Watkinsville

also, if yo have parts for donation please post up what you;re bringing so Steve can plan appropriately.

Things are looking grim for me at work, believe it or not a contractor with an unrealistic schedule that I've got to meet. I'll more than likely be working all freak'n weekend and pulling 12+ hrs. a day until the 18th to make this happen and to top it all off there's a software upgrade in it to boot. Well at least the part's fund is going to fatten back up again.

I may say fxxx it and come on. Depends on how smooth the software upgrade goes.

Are y'all sure you don't work at the same place as me? The layoffs continue but the project schedule hasn't changed a bit.....

I suppose the beatings will continue also until morale improves!

Thanks to everyone that is coming - and everyone that wants to help too!

I'm waiting to hear back from James on room deals at a local hotel. James has also offered up his house - a guest room, several sofas and plenty of floor space. I was going to crash on a couch but I'll give that up to whoever wants it and I'll sleep outside in my RTT.

Also talked to the videographer again today. He has an unfinished video put together of the first build and will finish it off with video from this build.

Thanks again!
