Hello. My bug/rock deflector just cracked and I’m trying to find a replacement. It seems the AVS variant has been discontinued and the OEM one for sale on cruiserparts is egregiously priced. Does anyone know where I can find one?

Thanks

Not sure what brand I originally bought

@Durban: are there any part number, letters, brands on the deflector? Try looking everywhere including underside ie: areas not visible when mounted.

I had a deflector on one of my 80's until it broke, definitely helps protect the front of the hood.

No unfortunately not. It looks like there was a sticker but its gone. There is a small toyota logo on the front left but I doubt its OEM. Unless the price of them went up astronomically for some reason, I wouldn't have spent 500 on it. Theres one for sale on ebay but not sure if the listing is legit, so I wanted to see if anyone has seen them for sale somewhere

did you guys get this one in the states?

This is what we have in Australia, but long discontinued, and I've called dozens of dealers all over the country and searched high and low for one, but no dice. Mine broke and I can only get a plain plastic perspect one one (no LANDCRUISER logo). Though the aftermarket one looks to be of high quality.

Here's the OEM one that was available in Aus:

No we didn't get that as far as I know, just black which was a dealer add on I believe. The clear is definitely cool.

Where are you seeing some available in AU? Maybe I’ll try to go that route

the one I have purchased (yet to be fitted), is this one. There are quite a few people that sell this particular one. The quality is good. I can take some pictures of my action one at home if you like. The design has the top of it slightly kick up to catch more stones.

The genuine one moulded to the shape of the bonnet (below). It did look great, but some complained about them being leaf catchers. My car always gets parked inside, so it was never an issue. Still gutted it broke.

View attachment 4080634Thanks for the link. Does that one screw into the factory holes? If you put it on soon, post some pictures of it please. Will likely purchase that as well.

I havent gotten around to installing it yet. I suspect it will line up with the factory holes as it was specifically designed for an 80 series. I'm not ready to install it yet, as I need to polish the car and haven't gotten around to doing it yet, but I can certainly hold it up to the bonnet and check for mounting holes and take some pics of it unfitted or maybe the mrs can take a pic while I hold it. Shipping to the US will be a killer though.

If not too much trouble, I’d like to see. $100 shipping is still better than the $500 OEM or Chinese options, haha.

I'm interested in this as well. I spent a fair amount of time searching last summer and didn't find anything suitable. The AVS looks ike it woukd fit well on a 1980's F-150, but not a Land Cruiser. I found an oem deflector on some Cruiser website... they wanted $600.

AVS has been discontinued, and the option you see on Cruiser Parts is incorrect, they no longer have them. I called both. Hopefully the clear one is an option. I realized in theory you could paint the backside of the clear deflector any color you want, so if it looks nice that could be a good option

ok gents, leave it with me, I'll get some pics this weekend :-)

Sorry, I haven't had a chance to take some pics of this. I haven't forgotten. I'm also trying to compile a few alternatives as well for you guys. We have a few different options here in Aus. I've also contact Toyota to see if there's a way I could generate enough interest for them to do another run of the genuine ones (unlikely though).

I found these deflectors this morning... Seller told me they are OEM. I'm going to order one. If folks are interested maybe we could arrange a group buy. The deflectors are located in Indonesia.

I have a video of the deflector, but having trouble downloading. I'll try again this evening.

The advantage of the wrap-around style of wind/stone/bug deflector (see below) is that it protects the front of the fenders also.

I used to think those deflectors looked girly until after many years of driving one of my 80's had a few dozen deep rock chips on the "nose" of the hood and the forward facing area of the fenders. I'm past that stage of not wanting to look uncool, more interested in protecting my vehicles. FWIW

interesting design... I picked up another old OEM clear one NOS from someone here. I've never seen a clear one here from Toyota without the 'LANDCRUISER' writing across the front, but it could have been for a very early 80 series.

I'm sorry I've been slack in taking images of my 2 at home, I've been a bit scattered with other priorities.

I've put a note in my calendar to do this on the weekend.
