I have an FJ40 with a diesel conversion. The current motor is a 2H. It's got a 5 speed. I know that the 2H lacks power and was talking to a mechanic here in Chile who told me that most people here do a BU80 diesel conversion amd that its much better than yhe 2H. I went online and found very little about the BU80 engine itself, so i thought I'd come here to see if you guys knew more about it. Do you guys know about the BU80? I did a search on the forum and only got a couple of hits.

Thanks in advance!

Griff

One assumes its going to be a 15BT engine out of a Dyna.. you need confirmation of the specific engine he's referring to.. there's no Toyota BU80 Diesel Engine.. but there is a BU80 Dyna I believe..

14b engine

The 14b seems about as potent as the 2H, so if I were going to make a change I'd insist on something with more HP. Right now, i can go about 70km/h uphill and the speed limit is 120. The 15bt seems like a better option.

The guy I spoke to said one could be had for about $600 here in Chile. Seems like they import them from Japan.
