You might want to make a mirror that fits on the drivers side. Bolt it through a hinge or something. When I had a cherokee with no doors I had to make one or else Johnny Law had a thing or two to say.

I have also been told that you need to have a lip on the bottom of the door opening that keeps stuff from falling out when the doors are off. Don't know if that is a law or more of a guideline....

All that being said, did you cut the hinge so the door was removable or did you just take them off?

Already ahead of you on the mirror thing. First thing I did after I pulled the doors. So far no trouble from 5-0. I left the hinges on the truck so i could put the doors back on relatively easily. They are a tad heavy, but I removed them by myself, so I figure I can put them back on by myself as well.

Nice. I love doorless wagons. You can also cut the hinge to make the doors A LOT easier to put on. I'll see if I can dig up a picture of how I did them on my 60.

**Edit** found the picture. Just leave the top bolt in the door and slide them on and off then tighten the bolt. When winter time comes around put the bottom bolt back in.

Interesting idea. Did you do that for both the top and bottom hinge?

Yes. it works well when "Hanging" the doors again. I did Cattywampus like that back in the day... prolly need to do Lorena that way as well...

Yep, I did. Like landspeeder said, it works well. Definitely makes putting the door on and off waay easier.

Land Speeder. I am actually glad you chimed in. I am thinking about dovetailing what is left of the rear end. I looked through your thread and sor tof got an idea of how you did it. But I am confused on a couple points. How did you keep the sheetmetal so straight on the sides? It seems like it would crease when pulled in that much. Also, how did you keep the "frame" of the tailgate (the part it bolts into) so straight, or did you? It seems like when you pulled the sides in it would angle the tail lights inward and nothing would blt back up. I hope this makes sense. Thanks for the comments and input guys!

You talking about this tight ass?

It's VERY hodge-podge and a "recess" as you cut kinda thing. Use a fe ratchet straps, and once you've cut all the way to where you want you dove to stop, then starts pulling the straps in, cutting out the interfering pieces and or making recess cuts to allow over lapping.... You aren't doving the rear doors so it'll be EASY for you, but in Lorena, I doved what used to be the rear doors as well and they didn't want to... I left the rear tailgate "horseshoe" intact with a cut in the middle, so the taillights had to be tacked straight (if that makes sense)
You'll love it. Once doved and tacked up, just measure how much you'll need the tail gate to be....

There she is.. my my, what a tight rear end you have. Ok. I think I get what you are saying. So you cut the whole ass off including the tail lights then doved the panels in. The butted the "horseshoe" up against the doved panels with the needed amount removed from the width. Then cut the tailgate to match. That sound about right?

actually I think I am wrong. From the picture it looks like to left the tail light "pillar" on while doving, and then sliced it on the inside and pulled it back into a straight line.... s***, this might be just one of those things i have to figure out as I go along.

Figured you can never have too many pictures. One day Ill actually take my camera when I go wheeling so I can post something besides driveway shots.
