I like that they included a pic of bear s***.

Haha, that made me laugh too.

Would be a cool recreational property...but I don't have that sorta $$. Wish I could find a way to make a living out there; but flood plain thing may be a prob in winter, lol.

My wife and I got so sick of Vic we just bought a 10.5 acre property north of Qualicum.

We have been working 6months on 6 months off in the Yukon living in a wall tent so that ruined us for the city. We had to get out.

We found this place of Craigslist. It was an absolute train wreck. Covered in garbage and crap, and not the metaphorical kind but actual bags of household garbage. We’ve had it for two months and have filled 10 construction bins with so far!🤣 I expect to fill 3-4more. I’ve demoed two buildings and am rebuilding the end walls of the shop, repouring the shop floor and we are fully renovating the house because…smokers and the worlds worst layout and nothing is straight or true.

Buuuuuuut. Their price had dropped 300k from what they originally listed it for and we got it for 150k under that! 💰🤣 I’ll clear a lot of garbage for that much money and we are lucky enough to be able to put our business on hold temporarily to clean/fix it up…
I think no one was interested because it was such a train wreck. Fine by me. Work is work and at least now we’re working on our own dirt.

I feel your pain. People who owned our place were ****ing pigs too.

Every time I cut back some bushes I'd find household garbage. Like **** sakes people, you're in cedar , the dump is 10 minutes away. 🙄

Also seems like as a final **** you, they had a big party less than a week before we took possession, and the instructions were to throw the empties into the bushes.

It's been years and I'm still finding s*** sometimes.

Awesome man, congratulations!

That is sort of my thinking. I'd be selling my house in Vic to buy a property somewhere also. I'd like the sort of sweat equity deal you got. But maybe I should get your wife to talk to mine, because she and I ain't on the same page, lol! (with regards to owning rural)

Meanwhile I'm scratching my head to figure out what I could do to make an income with 150acres in the San Juan river valley... I'm not a people person, so tourist s*** is out... Wife already gave a firm hell no, so not sure why I'm still thinking about it.

Come over for a BBQ and we'll win her over. this place feels like it is in the middle of nowhere but i reality I made it to Qualicum in, a verry hurried, 15 min yesterday.

I feel your pain. People who owned our place were f***ing pigs too.

Every time I cut back some bushes I'd find household garbage. Like f*** sakes people, you're in cedar , the dump is 10 minutes away. 🙄

Ya this guy left empties everywhere. We've filled 10-12 large construction bags with empty root bear bottles (apparently he didn't drink...). but he did drain the diesel tanks and take the batteries out of everything he couldn't move off of property... and leave behind 7 garbage boats...

It any quicker in high range? :grinpimp: :flipoff2:

Funny thing with our place, is we have an aerial photo of it from the early 70's
There's a s***ty blue utility trailer in the pic, sitting on some lawn.

50 years later, the lawn was a blackberry bush and the trailer didn't have much blue left, but it hadn't moved...

Since he has a turbo... likely. Without one Low Range might be faster.

Haha. I do technically have a turbo. It us also technically sitting in a box so….its not contributing much right now.

Having a turbo, even sitting in a box will make your truck faster… right ;)

I can just imagine what you could do with twin turbos.

My mistake, I thought you were further down that road.

No problem. We’re pouring a new concrete floor for the shop this week then I can start tearing things apart.

My sorta dream. Check out this listing - https://www.realtor.ca/real-estate/25684532/19829-16-highway-terrace

136 acres for less than a average Victoria house.

House needs some proper off grid tech updates, but location is phenomenal. Love this area (just drove through it a couple weeks ago).

Skeena right there for some great fishing when the mood strikes.

Is it on a floodplain ? Outhouse only ! My kind of place ....

Good question about the floodplain; I would assume maybe by the river, but house looks quite a ways away?

For that price I don't mind doing some updates to the house as needed (proper electrical/plumbing; bring in hydro, or setup off grid system).

Wifey still not on board, so I'm just dreaming anyhow. :)

Annual property taxes...$389 :bang: 😭

Looks awesome, I would like some more space, and ideally a dedicated shop. Been eyeing the neighbors property, although it's not for sale, if we can manage to buy that we own the entire corner of land on this side of the village through to the highway, preventing any neighbors within 500m or so, plus the we would get another house and a much larger barn then our own.

The one interesting thing is most of their land is agricultural which requires farming by law, although you have a few options there, either hiring it out or perhaps more interesting, growing a less conventional crop that takes many years to mature...

Redneck Christmas tree farm sold by weight?... I wonder how many city kids can guess what their Christmas tree weighs before they cut it down :hillbilly: :grinpimp:

Sounds like you have some neat possibilities where you live. Buying land can be addictive....my parents ended up with 2500acres by buying parcel after parcel through the 80s and 90s!

I'll just keep dreaming for now...

Procrastinating on what I should be doing.

Neat history of the old town across the river from that property I posted. ^^. (attached).
