I did a search, but cannot find the location of the front differential breather. Anyone have a picture of its location?

Also, I am confused about the transmission and t-case breathers.

This thread:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/163389-breather-hoses-water-crossings.html

says that the circled tubes are BOTH trans breathers, but when I followed the one circled in red, it looks like it goes to the t-case. Can anyone clear this up as well?

Final question, any reason why I shouldn't use this filter??
K&N Crankcase Vent Filters

Thanks for the help!

Diff breather. You're probably paying double for the K&N name, but they'd work fine. I found this on toyodiy, you may be able to poke around and find the junction you've got pictures. I searched for breather there and found both the t-case and tranny breathers, but didn't see anywhere that they're joined.

Thanks for the help with the front, that diagram helped me find it.

I am not sure I completely understood your previous post. Were trying to say that the two I have pictured are not both for the trans? Just trying to make sure I have it right.

Yellow circle= Transmission
Red circle = Transfer Case

I don't want to accidentally leave out the t-case.

thanks:cheers:

That junction I took the picture of is on the transmission dipstick.

On an 80 one of those is the auto box and one is the transfer so I'd guess they're the same on the 100. Those are what I intend to extend to cover the gearbox and transfer but maybe someone who knows for definate will chip in.

Here are some questions that perhaps some of you can help me with.

As per the photo in the first post, those two hoses represent the tranny and t-case breather lines. Can i assume that the hoses are disconnected at that junction and fittings added with an additional length of hose (i.e. 1/4" fuel line?)

If these two hoses in the first post represent the tranny and t-case breather lines, where is the front diff breather line located? I was under the hood and couldn't find it.

Also, correct me if i'm wrong, but the photo in the first post is from under the truck looking up?

The tranny and t-case breather lines hook into the tranny dipstick tube. I believe they are half way up the tube and are pretty easy to find if you get under the tranny pan and follow the dipstick tube up.

The front diff breather comes off of the top of the diff housing and then is attached to the passenger side frame rail. Here are a few pics.

The first picture shows the front diff breather as it comes off of the passenger side fame rail and up onto the passenger wheel well (extended). If you look carefully, you can see one of the CV shafts down in the bottom. The second shows where I hooked it up at (the diagnostic box).

Thanks! I have another question. In that second pic, next to the diagnostic box, what is that horn looking circle? It looks like an aux horn or something. What is it used for?
