I can't believe there aren't any pics yet. Some to follow.
Man I had a good time. The weather was perfect the company was good and the teamwork was top notch.
I had been the "back" way to Copper on the New Years run. Glen had led for the most part but I paid attention. We entered in the same place as the NYR and it was smooth sailing from there. Often with a group taking established trails is a good idea as the dedicate dance of turning around a bunch of trucks becomes tiring fast. QWe had three trucks and thought some exploring was in order.
I got us to the end of my known area and from there we were in our own. The first trail was a bust but after that it was all pure gold!
Keith spied an overgrown trail and volunteered to give it a shot. He stumbled across an old first growth road that was like the "Northwest passage" of MT Sicker. Clearly no truck had been there for the better part of five decades and we forged through. There were all kinds of clearing, winching, pulling and teamwork but in the end we made it. Think "Ho Ci Min X10!"
There were some tight squeezes; at one point I said over the air to Chris "did you clear the bark off that tree?" "Oh dear" he replied. Dents in the QP.
Chris bounced back and finessed the rest of the trail like a seasoned vet. Keith went damage free and the new 35's were a marked improvement over the 13teens he had before.
I was fine with the RTT and with the help from spotters I managed to pilot the "tall, fat, lady" more or less un scathed. other than a sidewall attack. The MTR's held up just fine.
