Update: Sent steam out the tailpipe of the 307K engine a few months back. Swapped in one with 210K, replaced radiator, thermostat, cap and did the timing belt and water pump. Running strong but now needs to address starter contacts. He just bough a another new amp so no love for the Runner!

Brat and I did the starter contacts, not too bad to tackle. Some phone support from Gnob always helps 👍

OK now he's acquired more CVT accessories...

Bumper and winch added. We went to the Toytec adjustable coil overs for the extra weight.

Just went to Southern Oregon Tire to re-align it as we changed out the coils. The new ride height is 1/4" taller than he started with, figured it might still be in spec but wanted to make sure. They couldn't align it and said the steering rack needed to be replaced. I asked for the specific problem and they said there is vertical movement at the ends entering the rack. Had the same thing with a 2012 Runner I lifted and took there for alignment but that owner took it to their mechanic who said it was fine. Not sure about this one. Anyone have experience with the issue described?

Never heard of that, have you tried reproducing the movement? Seems like vertical movement would be the bushings holding the rack to the truck. If it were just at the connection of the inner tie rod the rack would be leaking. Pull the boots and see if they have fluid in them otherwise order some new bushings if you can indeed witness the slop.

But then of course I found this...

I went and checked this yesterday.
I had basically told G the same thing over the phone.
Not sloppy. Guy must have been gorilla-ing it.
Steering racks are always kind of ghey anyway.

Thanks again Gnob!

OK one more after switching to a hawse and adding lights to the bumper, plus a bonus pic of Brat himself. He said sliders are next, we shall see.

Looks like Brat is selling his rig after this weekend camping trip, $8K. Looking to get into a Taco.

He's looking for a 4th Gen now with the money from his 3rd and then selling his car for upgrades for the 4th if he finds it. His 3rd is currently in my garage and will be cleaned up.
