So is the Ebrake light and the brake light being discussed here the same thing....my ebrake light intermittently goes on and off.....same Sensor as being discussed above????
From my experience...with my rig, this happens when the brake fluid is a bit low. Which means that my pads (front or rear) are low and due for replacement. If you top off the res. with some brake fluid, it'll stop flashing -- but you'll likely need to remove some when you swap in new pads.
He has a 97 and it's a negatory on this point. There are differences between the years on how this curcuit is wired. The 95+ years, the light is wired to both the level and p-brake position switch, that's it. From a previous discussion the 93+ years also have it wired into the cruise control, there could be other differences but that's what I am aware of.
So we need to be a little careful on what we beleive to be true here. And while the level switch is probably reporting a problem that doesn't exist I'd look into replacing that switch when I next ordered some parts.
My daughters light came on and it turned out that here ABS actuator was leaking, I'm kind of fond of that there level sensor.
"My smoke detector's on the fritz but I'm gonna pull the battery out of it so I don't have to listen to it. I'll just wake up every couple hours to make sure the house is not on fire........."

I like to be careful which is precisely why I prefaced this comment with "IIRC", I do not have a 97 FSM or CDan's expertise so anytime I am not sure of my comments I say so.
My main concern with Mudshack's brake issues is that in a previous thread he said that he had bled his very toasted brake fluid (his words) but never got to the two rears because he could not open the bleeders. So he is worried about brake warning lights but has not fixed the contaminated brake fluid issue. The sensors may very well be OK and reporting correctly a problem that does indeed exist, in which case replacing parts will do nothing.
OK I've now got my brake light stuck on. Some notes:
- The fluid is full.
- The sensor switch tests out ok on the bench with my meter.
- The handbrake up causes the light to glow brighter (seems like that's not it).
- Haven't yet tried to just see what happens pulling the connector from switch.
So what other inputs are there to the light? Perhaps it's the float not floating properly. I guess I'm heading back out to just pull the connector (as an experiment only).
edit - ok nevermind, it's the float switch sensor.
Watch my US OEM supplier get this part to me before I can find it in Canada.
