Question for you all; my Pig came from New Mexico and a lot of the rubber has dried/cracked/otherwise gone away.

Wondering if y'all can tell me if there was originally any rubber between the body and the following:

  • quarter panel vents
  • rear reflectors (below reverse lights)
  • faux grille panels on upper front fenders

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

  • quarter panel vents Yes - (at least on a 1971/2)
  • rear reflectors (below reverse lights) - (No - not on a 1971/2)
  • faux grille panels on upper front fenders - (No - not on a 1971/2)
 
Mine are actually angled to account for the curvature of the rear body. I think they're original - but very dryrotted. I removed all but one. I'll photograph it today and post so you can have a reference point.

My '74 has vents around those marker lights, I'll snap a picture of them.
I was wondering if there was rubber between those and the paint...

my '78 did/does not have rubber between the vents and body. Doesn't mean is wasn't supposed to
 
i don't recall any gaskets on the later model rear quarter vents. i did however see a front apron vent panel with some sort of roundish rubber gasket, i do believe it was factory, but not sure if it was for all years

DUDE! I LOVE the blackened mirrors, door handles, & vent. SICK. Really coming together nice. But stop teasin' and post more pics. Don't you have a build thread going? (Helping save Pablo from having his thread hijacked)

Good to know, sounds like the vents may not have been gasketed.
