Figured I would share with you guys who have OBDII compatible rigs this cool little set up to use use your Andriod phone as a reader. Chatting with Erik about this I decided to give it a shot. I even think Thad got one of these as well.. The Bluetooth module is only $44.00 and the app is only around $4 and you get the ability to customize your own realtime dashboards to read most anything that your trucks computer spits out.

I have mine set up to display realtime Engine Coolant Temp, Transmission Temp, Intake Temp, Volts, GPS Speed and RPM's. The app will also pull codes and allow you to reset your computer after pulling codes. It also allows you to set up alarms if you want.

This is the bluetooth module I went with HERE

You can get more information on the Android App called Torque HERE

They have an excellent forum and the developer is quick to respond with any questions you might have about configuration or trouble shooting from what I have experienced.

Attached is a snapshot of one of my dashboards

your gonna have to show me how to set mine up. and how did you find trans temp ? i didn't see it avail on the list.

Crashing your clubhouse here (the Andriod app makes me aware of lots of stuff on Mud I would never see before). Question- were you able to obtain oil psi info?

I will be curious to look at your setup. I also dont have the trans temp option. I am wondering if it is dependent on the blue tooth adapter you use. I have a different one I got off ebay. I find it very helpful. I love the fact i can walk away from the truck and continue to monitor the data. I was all over the shop and still able to see the temp of the truck.

Oil psi is not an option either on mine.

I am also running the free version and wonder if that makes a difference. I tried to buy the app but google apps are charged via the developers country of origin and that england. The google checkout would not accept my amex for this purpose so I am using the free version.

I noticed on here that there is now a reader that works with the iphone also

NO, I have not been able to get Oil PSI...

OK, so when I first hooked mine up and ran it I couldn't find Transmission Temp. I got on the Torque forum and read that this was also the case for other people. The fix was really easy. Even though i had downloaded the app the day before I went back into the Andriod Marketplace and did a search for "Torque" and it showed that there was an update for me. I downloaded the update, rebooted the app and I then had Transmission Temp in my list when adding a new gauge to my dashboard.

When adding a gauge I have found that its best to do it when you have the app connected to your Bluetooth reader while the truck is running. When you do this you see all the active sensor readings available to you after selecting the type of display you want.

In my list i have 3 different Transmission Temperature options and only one of them pulled the sensor reading. I would not have known which one to select without the truck running and connected to the app.

Hope this helps.
