I've wondered about wrapping as well. It's my understanding the core problem is with the base coat directly on the metal. I was (probably incorrectly) assuming that if this base layer fails it will cause wrap to just be connected to paint that is delaminating and "loose" so the hold of the wrap is only as good as the hold of the paint it is sitting over. Do you know if this is the case?
I believe you are correct. I don't know the severity of your situation but it might be to far gone. Considering my patch is small I hope I can get away with a wrap but I haven't received a professional opinion. I would be surprised if a wrapping business wouldn't recommend it.

Honestly I partially want an excuse to have a sweet color that I cant get on a stock 470. I'm a little obsessed with the current GX color Nori Green.

1000% with you on Nori Green Pearl. If I do go with the full strip / repaint, that is actually the color I was planning to change to. I LOVE that color. Maybe I should finally sell the 100 series to go full ****** on the 470.

If you have the money and love the rig, it's worth it. Regardless of if it's cost-effective or not.

As someone who is planning on eventually getting a respray done on my old Corolla that I've owned forever, I agree with this. The financials will make absolutely zero sense. But I don't care. This one is mine, and they don't make 'em like they used to.

However, I suppose on a rig you literally just bought there's even more of an argument against doing this (unless you scored it at a steal of a price). You don't have or truly know the car's history, and you can theoretically just trade out for another one with better paint.

We'll see what the price is like after getting a few more quotes before making the final decision. Might have to get the personalized YOLO license plate as well.

I wouldn't worry about the weight, it's negligible for these giant SUVs. Your glove box contents are likely more than the weight difference between paint and liner. Also Monstaliner has a ton of colors and offers free color samples. It's worth the experiment!

Typically Monstaliner Destroys the Resale.
Factory Paint Enhances Resale if Decent Job.
Many Buy on Appearance - I personally love Patina Preserved.

I've seen very, very few bedliner-as-paint-jobs that look good, despite them being quite common in this area on Jeeps and older diesel trucks. Most of the time there are streaks in the spray that are easily apparent. Being a textured surface, it will also hold dirt, and it won't be anywhere near as UV-resistance as a modern basecoat/clear coat paint job. I'd much prefer a cheap wrap job over bedliner, as at least the wrap can easily be removed in the future.

Bedliner might be fine for a dedicated trail rig, but it not something I would want on a vehicle I actually like and care about
