So by looking at the photo. If I didn't have a skid covering the transfer case I would most likely mess it up right? I may need to winch 2 times. Might as well leave the cable out the whole trip since it is a pita to pull out.
I drove straight across knowing it would high center. If you have a shorter wheel base or bigger tires you may be able to walk straight over. The line I took in the video should not eat a transfer case. Slider maybe depending on clearance. With traction aids and a different line you should be ok. There are other vids on YouTube that show some lines across the middle. I just didn't want to get crossed up travelling solo.

The lines I saw, you attack it at an angle to keep tires on it without dragging the belly. You needed major flex though. The JK's make it look cool.

There is a line across Jaws 1 where I don't drag my skid plate going across. There are other lines where dragging occurs.

I will come on the trip. I like to go on Friday morning which gives us a better chance of getting the prime camp site on the other side of the lake. Last time I talked to Luke, he said he could not go on a Friday so I committed to go with him on Saturday morning. If we go on Saturday, we should leave early so that we can get a campsite. Maybe if someone goes up on Friday, they can snag a big campsite.

I'm in. Two buddies of mine might tag along and hit the summit of Blanca sunrise on Sunday. We would likly be down to the campsite around 11am to noon. Is that too late for a downhill departure? If they can't make it then I would be solo.

I would think that would be to late but Brett and Vic would have to chime in since they have done this trail already. Plus it we be all dependent on weather. Luke you haven't really said if you were going for sure. Should I put you on the list? I know it's all dependent on weather.

Last time I went, I think we left the campsite around 10 so that we could get down and drive back to COS at a reasonable time of day. We drove up above the campsite to do the major obstacle (Jaws 5, maybe?) and went a ways further, then turned around and drove all the way to the bottom. We don't all have to come down the mountain together; we just need to be sure that those who want spotters group together so that everyone feels comfortable.

When we came down it only took us 2.5 hours, it isn't getting dark until after 8pm. The obstacles are all towards the top, you could probably leave at 4, cross all the spots that would be a concern and come down the easy stuff in the dusk with lights. Bear in mind that is with one truck running pretty light.

Your labels are correct re: jaws2.5 and 3.

I would be more likely to come down in the dark than in the wet.

The colorado rains seem to hit in the afternoons, so I would think as long as we're past jaws 2.5 and 2 before the rain, we'll be fine.

Matt, I'm in for sure. Not excited about scarring up the underside of my rig, but I want to see this trail at least once.

I have a conflict on Friday, so I will begin the trail on Saturday morning. If everyone else goes up on Friday, I'm fine with that. If some are going on Saturday, maybe we can meet for the trip from COS or meet at the trailhead.

I am going down Friday night probably and camp by the trail head somewhere and wait for everyone to go in the morning. At least that's the plan as of now for me so the family doesn't have to get up so early.

Leaving early from the Springs works for me, I'll even get up early for Vic. :)

What time are you thinking about leaving Matt? I'm normally able to get out of work early on Fridays. Plan on having the 80 loaded on the trailer. So I can tow it to work and leave right from there, or just head home and grab it.

I have a well built fj cruiser and Cherokee that wanted a heads up if I ever found a group that wanted to do I this run. They have been planning on going for over 2 years and weather has stopped them both times. If you guys think we have to many I will tell them no, but if I you guys are ok with it I would like to tell them they can come. Both are experienced. I won't be butt hurt if I get a no.

Doesn't matter to me. More the merrier IMO.

Excited to drive back from Durango today to get a good view of Blanca. Too overcast on Friday when we came down.

Any plans to hike the remainder of the way to the top anyone? Preferably on Saturday if we finish the trail early enough?

Well let's get there first;). I would maybe like to hike to the top but I am out of shape compared the last 2 years. Wheeling and kids sure doesn't make much time for exercise. So I will try anyway.
