Will told me yesterday he wanted to go to Mt Rushmore next summer

We went as a family....Will was not born at the time.

Black Hills South Dakota 2003 - Rock Midget Photography

It is about 1400 miles from Jackson, like Moab was.

Google Maps

Here are pictures from my 2 wheeling trips to the Black Hills. Don't be intimidated by the trails in these pictures, I purposely took my vehicles on the hardest trails while there. If we do the Black Hills Cruiser Classic, they have levels of trail rides for different vehicles.

This is a superb family vacation destination/wheeling trip. I would say for the family stuff it is even better than Moab was.

For a National Park nut like me, you have Mt Rushmore, Wind Cave and Badlands all in the same area. Devil's Tower, Sturgis and the other small towns in the Black Hills are just super cool.

The event is usually held Mid-July. USUALLY, the weather is 20* cooler there than here in July, but in 2003 it was hotter there than in TX so I am not making any promises.

Right now, I am putting this on the calendar for my main family vacation for 2012 like Moab was in 2011. I would love to have my Cottonland family go too.

This would be great because if you want to bring a wagon, bring a wagon. You want to rockcrawl? Bring a crawler. Trail ride? Motorcycle? You get the picture.

If Woody starts now, maybe he can get a wooly-booger stash like this grown by July

Butch looks high in that picture...

Putting it on the list for next year.

I told wife about this event!

Wife has wanted to go visit this place for a while but the opportunity had not come up!

I also told my Kids and they were thrill!

Jonah asked me about Will's age Nolen, and how come you didn't take him before!

I told him that Will was not born yet when you made that trip!

How old is will Nolen?...Kids still want to know!

My kids like him! ...so does Will know how to ride the bike yet?

Make it June 4 - June 10 and consider it fixed like a WBO fight.

It is up to the guys that put the event on, not me. Maybe you can email them and lobby for those dates.

Putting together a long-distance club run like this just works better if there is an event since we all drive such a variety of rigs. This way we are not "dumbing down" the group to the lowest denominator.

Domec, Will was born May 21, 2004.

by gawd sir! ...When are you going to have enough seniority to have off on the wheeling/vacations days!

My son Jonah is 8 & Fernie is 6 years old.

They read the story about Mt Rushmore at school.... So they're interested in visiting this place!

by then I should have my 40 ready or the 80 w/ bigger tires and sliders!

Hope this trip comes true!

That's a long damn way from Mexico!

Already splitin' diesel with someone if this trip takes place!

We ain't walking or hitching a ride all the way over there sir! :hillbilly:

We're coming in our Paloma up north

....that's if the boys still fit in the back.

As it is, I am already looking into a new set up for seating places, dont seam like we're changing tow rig next year!

This place or California ain't no further than Moab!:grinpimp:

....it's just matter of perspective or viewing things!

Carry on!

You know I want to go. That place looks beautiful.
