I think there is a catch at the top of the seat(Im vague because I hardly ever touch them)
If they are the same as a 73/74 series ,it should just drop down and secure itself.
Mine were full of dust and dirt and I sprayed them with CRC which got them working.

The holes in the floor were also full of gunk when I 1st got it. Make sure the catch in the floor is not damaged
On the 73/74 series seats you can access the cables to see if they are working by lifting up the material at the back of the seat.

under the back there is a strap topull...
they do get "finickity" and can seize up, i find if you release the seat from the floor catch and bang it a few times then the seat back comes loose and you can fold it down...

there you go, the tech for today

it was the strap that i couldnt find...it got tucked under the seat back through the hole...so with a bit of disasembly of the latching mechanism i can now raise the seat but no fold yet!

thanks

is it same?

thats what happen with my LJ70 seat also ..
that seat supposed to came down and fold it ..
not lifted..

if our seat is the same one .. i think you can fold it by down by push one of the spring at the right side using a screwdriver .. :wrench:

now i get rid of that seat and changed it to LJ78 seats front and rear .. :hillbilly: problem solved .. money fly away ..

you still need to pull on the strap to get the seat to fold as well as release from the floor.
now that it is free from the floor, pulll on hte strap and hold out, now bang the seat against the floor to loosen the back folding mech...

if it has been up for a long time this might take a bit of buggering around...

im overwhelmed by the responses to my back seat problem....i hope the same help will be there when i go to redo my injector pump or install a spoiler...;)

thanks

i thought you might detect the sarcasm in little yellow blinking guy;).

Oh Brother :frown:

Yeah, just to help out before you ask...

there is a lever on the left side of the front seat to adjust the recline on it

All the way to the right and down is where Reverse is

One of the levers on the steering column is for turn signals and the other one is wipers, also the headlight switch is also on one of the levers

ha ha ha ha ha :D:D:D

Cheers,

Michael

Arty,

I live close to you. If you are still having problems... let me know and I can meet you somewhere. I had problems with my backseat release too. Now that you have the seat free from the floor... try flipping it forward toward the front seat with the strap pulled out and put some body weight on the top of it near the headrest from the back. I have had to force mine to fold like this a few times as it seems to get "sticky".

Thanks!

Rob

seat now lifts and folds...i would like to say it was my mechanical prowess but it was more like black magic with a screwdriver and lube
