Okay so working with the suspension the rear links are to short and upon compression the axle is going to move back to much for my liking. So I have to build longer links for the rear. The bonus however is the 2 bottom links for the rear are about perfect for the front axle for when i 3 link it. As you can see in the pics what I am talking about. The only bummer about the front axle is that I am going to have to cut the tabs and space them accordingly to work with the rear link now. The shouldn't be to bad. the rear links are going to mount under the tube cross member on the frame and be 38" long approx. compared to the 27" original ones. The first picture shows the extreme angle of the original rear links. They were just mocked up in the original leaf spring mounts. The second pic shows the rear links used for the front axle. Much better. Well only one rear link I just wanted to see how it would work. The only issue and that being the third picture with the mounting tabs being too skinny for the bigger rear link. So I will have to cut the tabs off and space them accordingly might be able to just cut one on each side to space it. More to come in the future lots of fab work to be done.

Well it isn't a 13B-T but I guess it will have to do... Its actually a 12H-T with a 5speed. ;p
So I am done with changes now it just has to all come together. Time to start fabbing I guess.

So I am thinking of doing coilovers in the front with coils in the rear. Don't think I want to do coil overs all the way around. I still might do coils all the way around. I am going to get my link ends from either Ballistic Fabrication or Evolution Machining. Going to ditch the stock 80 series links and set up for a custom 4 link rear and custom 3 link front with a panard bar. Stock steering arms and tie rods will be retained. So I will try to keep progress updated as I go.

Here are some pictures of the engine out. As you can see it needs a reseal before I put it in its home. But it runs awesome.

Here is the 5 speed transmission and two piece T-case. The t-case currently has vacuum shift for 4high but I will be converting it to mechanical linkage.

Been doing a lot of reading up on 4 link suspensions and have decided to scrap all the 80 series links. I have started striping the rear axle with the plasma cutter to a bare housing. Soon I'll be cutting stuff off the front axle.

I have also been looking into a Toybox from Marlin and will probably be picking up one of those in the future. Funny whenever I asked people always said my driveshaft was going to be pretty short in the rear. Good thing I'm moving the rear axle back a few inches. I will get some measurements in estimation for the rear shaft length. A

I have also decided to run a tire in the 37-39 inch range. So much work so little time and money haha.

Whats your bib look like? Is it rust free? I'm making new tube fenders that go up high for clearance under a flex. Almost doing an exo skeleton kind of thing to add protection and cover the tires for street driving.

Cut all the brackets off the rear axle and ground down the welds. Also removed the leaf spring mounts from the frame. Ran out of oxygen before I could get the mounts totally cut off the front axle. Axle looks a lot different when its nice and clean without all those 80 series link mounts.

Great work

And I thought I had a mammoth task with my LX restoration

Ambitious mate, i like it! Looks like your putting all the best Toyota bits in this beast. Looking forward to the finished product. :D

I am too still a lot of time and money till this one is done. The 45 is coming along and I am hoping to have it almost done this year. This one still has to get torn down after I finish all the Fab work.

I will be getting a 1hdt engine for this truck as well. Decided to run identical setup as my 45. Same front suspension, only difference will be the rear. The 45 will run leaf springs and the 40 4 link on coils. I pulled out the factory transmission but other than that no progress.

Been too busy working on this once again...
