I did a steering knuckle rebuild, rotors and pads over the weekend. Driver side went smooth but took a long time, about 10 hours total.
Passenger side I cruised through getting it all stripped down but when I pulled out the birth, another ~16” part of the axle came out free of the birth.
This is a daily so I replaced bearings, brakes and whatever and just threw it back together so I can get to work tomorrow but it’s definitely missing c clips or something to keep the axle together.
Am I ok to run it for a few more weeks before I have a chance to tear it back down and get the parts I need to have her right? Hopefully lockers at the time too :)

So you found that the axle shaft (short side) was not attached to the CV joint (Birfield or BIRF) when you removed the CV joint? Did you find pieces of
the Snap Ring laying about?

If that's the situation, the Snap Ring you need is 90521-34005

Was there any tack welds on the axle spine?

Guys used to put a tack weld on the axle to stop it slipping too far into the star in the birf so that c-clip can be left out.
It's called a Martack and was done to make a future trail repair easier
