Birf rebuild, seen it many times, thought I would do the 4 runner 1995 calipers and pads..should do the Fj80 master to get the real advantage..

Must be getting old, taking me for ever to get this done..also doing front and rear pinion seals..

Never have I seen this before but a birf one side had upper and lower bearings machined for an off set, not sure if this is caster related or center of the oil seal? John (Radd) has never seen it but has heard of it.

So whats the difference between the calipers? And pads? just bigger?

Pad is not a whole lot bigger, but it is larger by what looks to be about 20%, pistons are both much bigger than the cruiser units. I have read it is a pretty good improvement, not world shattering.

Def. a worthwhile upgrade. It will be a bit spongy without an upgraded master cyl. though. I used a new t100 master, new 4Runner calipers, oem pads and all new rear brake stuff as well. My 60 stopped very well..... Until I pulled Steve out of that river. Rear end all seized up after that. Then there was the axle shaft issue(s) which soaked the rear brakes in gear oil more than once. Never stopped quite the same after all that..... Weird.

Ya sure... lets blame the guy who I talked into driving in a circle through a slightly cold river in spring.... when he got stuck and I had to pull him out... when he's on the other side of the world... and I sold the truck anyway :flipoff2::flipoff2:

Just In cas anyone needed a visual reminder...

It still looks :censor: cold... good thing I had CAA :hillbilly:

There were many stories of this and other adventures around the fire (ahem, fake fire) this past weekend, you must get another rig cam and come help out with the entertainment.. I told the boys about our engine run to Pemby, they had quite a good laugh about the porta potty incident..;)

I plan upgrading the master due to a shot cruiser master, it was a three pump pedal to get it to stop on this trip....I was going to go with a early model cruiser master 1991-92 as they still had drums in the rear and no ABS..

Even with stock 40 discs... An 80 series master and booster makes for crazy powerful brakes on a 40... With 4 wheel discs, I can lock up all 4 corners on dry pavement at 30 mph... With two fingers on the brake pedal.

Once you've adjusted they're not grabby at all, just when you go from a 22+ year old master to a almost new 80 master, be prepared to hit the windshield.
