Oh Mo, your killing me!

Dan, you still in?

I am not out for sure. Still working on it. Maybe I spoke too soon. Not sure how to convince the :princess: that it is good to go wheeling that soon after getting back from the 500. I will continue to work on it and report back.

It was easy for me! Ha! :D

Unfortunately not so easy with a 13 month old, wife working and me on disability. Have to pick my battles. 500 or Big Bear. I think both. :D

Just noticed that is fathers day weekend. Everybody else ok with that?

Yes, i have no kids! :D

I think you can use the fact that its fathers day as leverage to go!

"Oh Cmon Honey, Its My Day, I Wanna Go Play"!!!

Just wait till you do. Tons of work and hassle but totally worth it.

That is the exact approach I was going to use. Maybe even get her to go. ;)

Kids are great to wheel with. My daughter started wheelin' with me when she was 15 months old...now see's 17 (years old) and takes any opportunity to borrow the 80 and give it a good thrashing! Of course I had her driving the 40 when see was 10. Plus, my son is 14 and has begun volunteering to help wrench on the 40! Life is good...now let's see how can I get them to do all the work while I supervise?

Rich

Now that sounds like a good plan, they do your PM and you supervise and jump straight to step 6  !

Only problem with mine is he refuses to stay still, ever. I kid you not he was delivered and taken to the table to be dried off measured etc and he started scooting with his legs and almost scooted off the table. When he is a little older and I can communicate with him better, I am sure he will like it as he is already into trucks and crawling over/under/behind anything that looks like a challenge just to see if he can get to the other side. Sometimes he even turns around and goes right back through again when there is a wide open route immediately next to him. I am certain he will be into challenging off roading. :D

Mo

Lets try to work on some details guys.

Lets solidfy the # of people and then we can look for a site, i found a few that offer group sites, that could be fun!. I snore though :flipoff2:

Count me in - I don't know the area well enough to help plan anything tho.

Cool!

Brent, is it just you or are you bringing the kids or the misses? Remember, its Dads day! :D

Good link for Big Bear campground information: http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/sanbernardino/recreation/camping/index.shtml

The 16th and 17th works for me. Have to be at work Sunday:frown:

I used to wheel Big Bear twice a month. It has been a few years, but I have a pretty good sense of the layout. I personally don't find Holcolmb Valley appealing, but that is just my .02.

My first choice would be Hanna Flat, although Big Pine Flat has flushing toilets that the :princess: usually like!

Big Pine Flat fills up first, then Hanna Flat. both are an easy graded 2wd dirt road out of Fawnskin. There is a fee for each site- Hanna Flats takes reservations!! I guess that means it will fill up before Big Pine:doh:

Sorry for the long post, I tend to just keep rambling. . . . . .

Yep.

Most Cooll!

Do you know the area at all? You bringing the kids and or the misses? Either way, make sure you bring the wine! :flipoff2:

I don't know the area very well, but the link that Boydmick provided is pretty informative. Looks like Big Pine Flats campground (among others) has direct access to an OHV area.

I think I'll spring for the annual adventure pass for $30. The adventure pass website has a list of private vendors in your city, or you can purchase from the Ranger's Station.

I'm also planning on using the Father's Day angle to get the :princess: and the :princess: in training out camping, even though we're going to Wrightwood the previous weekend.

And Kevin, don't worry, I'll bring plenty of wine! (as well as my personal stash of scotch):grinpimp:

Ill make it for the:

17th if I do it for a Day thing.

16th if I decide to sleep overnight with Nature - last time to camp in the woods was in 4th grade. And Im sleeping in the back of the LC :D . Will confirm 2 days before.

Open to any suggestions on where to camp (what trail to run is another story ;) ).

Haven't spoken with my son about coming....the Mrs. ..... it's not her cup of tea, so probably just me and my truck.

I vote for Hanna Flats! I feel more comfortable knowing that we have reservations!

It also looks pretty close to the lake as well as having a fire lookout tower that would be cool for pics!

Dan and Brent, give me the word and i will reserve the site today! It appears they allow up to 8 people on the site.

I will be coming up EARLY saturday AM and leaving Sunday later afternoon!

Boydmick, would you like to meet up with us Saturday AM for breakfast and some trail running? :D

Kevin, you might check on the number of vehicles allowed per site. Often they have a high number of people allowed but limit the car count to 2 or 3. Normally not a problem but with us each driving seperate to go wheeling might be an issue. We can work around it, just have to plan accordingly. ;)

Hanna Flats is the campground I was thinking of. It's pretty cool and right near a bunch of trails. Also, there's a good little cafe in Fawnskin for breakfast. Lot's o' good coffee!
