We'd all like the answer to this question. There's no such thing. Every tire, just like every vehicle, has a specific purpose or design intent.

Let the opinions begin...

For DD and backcountry in Cali, BFG TA-K/O.

Your member info says "California".
How about better info, like where you live and drive/wheel..it might help a leeeettttllleeee beet me thinks. :hhmm:

Swampers will wear out in no time on pavement. They all have a soft compound rubber.

I drive a 95 4runner. I live in the central valley so just a lot of mud and we have a river that goes dry every winter so we go down in there also which is sand. I also go hunting and its pretty much a hill and some more mud. Not very many rocks around here:crybaby:

Id go with Goodyear Duratracs if I was driving on the street alot. They have an allterrain center tread with somewhat of a mud tread on each side of that. Check em out. :)

x2 on the Duratracs. Got 'em on both my 80's and my bro has 'em on his Tundra. They're aggressive looking for an all terrain tread. They performed great in the snow/ice too.

I run Maxxis BigHorns on my 4runner. They work great off road & wear really well on road
A little noisy on the street now, but they are a mud terrain tire.
It's my daily driver & my wheelin rig & I have to say I like them very much, quite satisfied!

That's my $.02 worth

I ran a set of those as well... they have about 20k on them and 50+% tread. Handled the snow really well, but 'chunked' easily on the rocks...

Chopshop- I was impressed by only one set of the 'turds. they were 33x12.5 on a skinny wheel and slung mud like it was going out of style. the others have sucked it up...

Im looking for a good tire for off road and on the road. I've been looking at super swampers and dick cepek mud country but I can't decide what is best.

Round, black ones.

I've been very impressed with mt MB MT's. They've been the best riding, easiest balancing, quiet spinning MT I've ever owned... not to mention waaaaaaaay cheaper than the upscale MTs. Still on my first set of 33's so longevity is being evaluated. DD BTW.

Good luck!

Duratrac

I have Wrangler Duratracs on my '04 4Runner and love them. Great on wet and dry pavement, solid off road. Holding up well. Can't wait for the Michelins to wear out on my Cruiser so I can put them on there as well.
