I saw this in a magazine recently. Anyone have one of these?

Roller fairlead for synthetic rope:

New Daystar Rope Rollers Make Any Winch Roller Fairlead Compatible with Synthetic Rope - - Jeep at Off-Road.com

those are great, similar to what I use on my 80-series.

hate the cheap steel thimble on the end....mine have never held up....much prefer the crushproof thimble or the full aluminum eye that Winchline offers...

and 11,800 working is too light for a 12k winch, despite what they say....IMO any winch rated 10k or more needs 3/8....and for the added safety, I'd run a shorter 3/8" on ALL winches (shorter since you almost never get to the bottom layer where your max rating is on the winch)

All my winches run 80' of 3/8 Winchline...'should' have a new winch arriving in a week or so, and have another line laying here waiting for it....orange too, so its easy to see while in use :)

I use 3/8 on all...5/16 is fine for an 8000, but you get some added security with the 3/8

another advantage to running 20-40% less line is side-loading....when you are doing long pulls and the line bunches up to one side, you have 'less' risk of overfilling one side of the winch and jamming the line or busting the winch itself

you always know a guy

Thank you all for the input!
What an amazing thread!

I run 5/16th from Scott @ rockstomper.com

Top notch service.

Listen to what Woody says about 3/8"...
I bought my line for an 8274, but ended up with a xd9000i. I have broken it once. Easy enough to splice back together. I have many, many pulls on it, and will buy the same from Scott again when it is time to replace. (Just with 3/8")

The cool thing about running a shorter 3/8" is that you can always carry an extension, and wire rope is very light, non-abrasive, easy to store pretty much anywhere on your rig.

On my Warn M10K there was a 40 lb. difference between the OEM wire and the 3/8" rope I got from Winchline. Easier on the IFS front of the 100 for sure.
