I was looking at the Trend and the Sport. I think the Trend retails around 700-800 or so for the basic, and the Sport around 800-900. So even at cost, they are still pricey :/

They have two demo seats of these at the shop and the Sport has a little more bolster around the shoulder area. Neither one would be a bad choice for a vehicle like the FZJ80 IMO.

Which Recaros are you thinking of getting?

I have seen them with black, as well as blue Recaros, but the rest of the interior was in gray and they did not look out of place.

My JDM cloth factory DS seat seems to provide me with enough bolster/lumbar support, but I do have a lower back problem also. So I've been really fond (dreaming) of the Ergo Med line by Recaro.

I really enjoy having enough lateral support though as I seem to rely on them while going around corners a lot more than I realized.

Well the seats are behind some new 35" MTRs, and a 4x4 Labs rear bumper, so it might be a little bit before i go with the seat :)

Has anyone installed a black aftermarket seat in just the driver position? My dad is a dealer for Recaro so i was thinking of replacing the stock seat. Sadly, Recaro doesn't sell much that matches the stock interior (at least not in their seats that are under 1500 bucks a piece retail), so i'd probably go with black. Just wondering what it would look like with tan interior.

Are you offering us discounts on Recaro seats?

I had a 740i with the cold weather package, those seats were, well, Dammit I Miss That Car!!!
I have to go cry now.
They won't just bolt in, but if you can make them fit, it would definitely be worth a shot.
Don't get the ones with a solid back , the seats with a bend at shoulder height are just the ticket.

My 91 LC had been fitted by the PO with all the int/ext components of a 95-97 LC, when I bought it 12 yrs ago.

I honestly love the front seats, lots of pad, leather not worn at all.
But I've found the 2nd row to be very uncomfortable by design, especially on long trips.
That's one place where the 100 series betters the 80.

As far as what fits, you can make nearly any seat fit as long as it's not too tall or wide.

Find the seats you like the best at the price you want to pay and go from there.
I once found some brand new passenger-side leather seats(with frames) $75 ea. on ebay that were removed due to limo service and I fit them into a custom 2-door project. These were over a thousand $ at the dealer.
The seats were too wide but after I pulled the leather back I could shave the foam with a sharp boning knife to the width needed.

Personally, I think keeping it Toyota is a good idea on an 80. Maybe fitting some GX seats or previous 4Runner seats would go well with the rest of the vehicle.
