Hi guys,

I'm getting ready to start working on my FJ40 tub and need to buy C25 shielding gas.

1. Do you all lease a cylinder or own your own?
2. Does your supplier allow you to bring your own cylinder for refill or force you to lease from them?
3. I don't own a pickup truck and I've heard some suppliers won't let you load a cylinder into an enclosed vehicle. True?

you want to run argon mix or straight co2? airgas, hoenschild, m&h gas
they won't load it into your enclosed vehicle but i've never had an issue putting it in there myself.
hoenschild will just swap cylinders for you. mh refills hoenschild cylinders so i cut out the middle man myself and just go there.. but they're closer for me.
i run straight co2, cheaper and we also use it on our kegerator.

most of the time you own a cylinder. if you swap em out example.. an outdated cylinder goto a welding shop and swap gets you a newer in date one.. if it's a refill then try to find a place that can refill.. most just swap cylinders same for same or some let you upgrade to bigger size for difference in amount. I would look for a cylinder on equipbids or craigslist instead of paying the deposit at the welding shop. about 100 $ i think for cylinder deposit. i find used cylinders for $20 all the time.

I use c25 for the mig and argon for the tig. I own the botles and fill them at airgas no issue on an enclosed vehicle.

BTW I have a new slave cylinder for you, let me know where to drop it off at.

No hurry on the slave cylinder. I live out south and work downtown.

Well. I learned on straight co2. Its cheaper burns a touch hotter Im told and has other uses like tires and kegs. Totally up to you. My welding class used co2 as does chris in his shop. Ive used both not any difference unless I forget to turn on gas. Id continue to look. Im sure you can find a cheaper cylinder. How big a machine? The welder makes a bigger difference than what type of gas. U can change gas or cylinder size much easier than changing a welder
