I have been looking onto a portable diesel heater for tent camping for my ARB RTT and maybe later using in the Troopy during Road trips. So many options. Thanks in advance Well shoot I should have hit the search button first LOL I found some good threads

There are lots of Chinese diesel heaters, as well as lots groups/sites to interpret chinese heater fault codes! I'm sure you'll find a decent heater selection after wading through tons of data that's floating around now!!

I have a typical Chinese diesel heater. It is crap and it mixes a small portion of exhaust with hot air. Can't really use it in truck.

Eberspacher, Webasto, Autoterm, but look for ones made in Europe, not China.

The Burn Chamber is Sealed unless yours is Defective.
The Dry heat is Perfect for Inside a Car or Tent.
I sat my Vevor ($80) outside and put 3" Hose in Tent Door. Worked Amazing, but Lasted 1.5 Nights on Small Lithium Battery.

Vevor 5kw works well for me. 3 winters of use no problems.
I borrowed a 8kw from a buddy, Wow this thing worked Fantastic in fact a little to well. I will be ordering the 5kw

If you want to get Fancy you can put it outside on a Tire Step Mount so you do not have to Listen to the clicking of the Pump.
Pipe the Heat in thru the Rear Window.
Then all Smell and Diesel Outside which is Safer.
You could put a 12V battery Under it or Run a Wire.
Just Ideas.
3" Aluminum Flex Pipe available for $20 at any Big Box Store.

Yeah, what you do in the morning when it's a blob of ice? :) Penetrated into every crevice... I was considering that, but most of utube videos with setups like that were filmed in warm arid conditions where the only heating is needed is a good drink by campfire. If I ever get back to diesel heater for truck, it will be mounted in bed, under the cap.

If it is Running it should never Ice.
Some have had Issues with the Diesel getting thicker due to Temp.

I'm currently building this:

I'm running a vevor to heat my 1300sqft shop. Lots of run time and i only had to clean it out once, running a waste oil blend. should heat a cruiser no problem.

I'm building a Filter Setup to Blend and Filter Waste Oil Now.
I mixed 1.5 Gallons Junk Gas with 3.5 Gallons Used Motor Oil (Lightweight Synthetic).
Did you mix Used Motor Oil and Diesel?

**I go thru Delaware Often - Sister in Law lives in Dublin and my 80 Series was bought in Dunkirk and my GX came from Delaware.

I'm running a 25% used motor oil with 75% contaminated gas/diesel/water blend. I've done some testing and I'm pretty sure you could go up to 75% waste oil if you run a 2 tank system, startup and shutdown on diesel and then switch to your 75% blend when its hot. Pretty sure you could filter to just 40 micron and be ok.

you should stop by sometime.

I'm havin' a hard time digesting that ice is from/cuz of the diesel heater. Or am i misunderstanding your statement. I've seen minimal combustion condensate drip freezing but never blasted on.
Anything I leave outside of truck can be a blob of ice in the morning. I want it to be reliable and zero attention, basically. For example, last time I was in the woods, I left folding chairs outside, just folded them down and leaned against the truck, and they happened to be fully soaked and frozen all through by the morning, even that the evening weather was dry.

Another example, the truck in the morning. It was clean in the evening. The heater setup would look something like that.

Have been using my heater in garage for about 40 hours now. It seems that the foul odor was coming from the cheap Chinese plastic, as I smell nothing now. Of course, don't have any smell left after engine and transmission rebuilds, plus couple of COVIDS, but it is almost perfect for me now. I'll have a second opinion on reintegrating that heater into the truck.

5KW heater uses 3.6A at full power, btw. Just in case anyone is planning a battery capacity.

Haul your Heater there inside then Set it Up and power it Up Outside. It will not Freeze when it's Running 250-300°F All the Risk of CO is Outside. Guys are Running them on back side of a Garage in Northern Canada which is way Colder than Continental US.

Great to know on the Amperage. My Big batteries are 110A, but the Big draw is when they start up the draw is close to 15A to fire the Glow Plug.

My proposed setup draws fresh air from outside. It is essentially just the heater sitting in the bed, under the cap. All air intakes / exhaust go outside. I sleep in the cabin. There will be a battery powered CO detector.

Or, really, two 0F sleeping bags and couple of Moxa heat packs do it for me :) I'm not camping out in winter that much in recent years.

2 years outside - the cheapest mother effer i could find vevor - runs on Milwaukee batteries and diesel fuel - portable with quick connects and can heat another rig of tent since its “outside” just takes a y fitting - runs for 12 hrs on a fill up/charge on high - going to re pipe into the gull wing widow for better aesthetics and functionality for more long term duct placement
