I've removed enough roots with axe and shovel that I appreciate labor saving devices. When we were clearing our lot to build our house I used the ultimate labor saving device to remove over 1/4 acre of alder roots around the property, a bulldozer. Next in line for the ones I missed with the dozer was a little 20 hp Kubota tractor a friend let me borrow. We still have quite a few alders around the edges of the property and I needed to remove a few for a sauna I'm building. I decided the LX-570 should be put to work to see how it would fair, turns out it did the trick. This is the smallest root ball I removed, the final largest one was a bit of a struggle but it came up after a few tug and jerks. The others came out with a good steady pull.
