Non-Cruiser related (although there is a connection) and probably old news to a lot of you but I finally got around to seeing Beanland: Rising From the Riverbed. I missed it when they screened it here (was out of town) and then lost track of it. Anyway, for those of you who are Beanland fans, it's a must-see. Very interesting and revealing even to to those of us who knew the band. And even if you don't know Beanland, if you're from Mississippi you should see it. Really though, if you're from Mississippi and don't know Beanland then I'm betting that you're not really from Mississippi. ;) Available for purchase here (and if you Google it, many other locations), or you can rent it from NetFlix.

OK, carry on.

(Oh, the connection -- Nolen and I were friends for ages before we discovered that Beanland used to play at my bar/restaurant and that Nolen grew up with Bill and George. Small world.)

Here they are in our place, Shenanigans in Sewanee, Tennessee. Fun times.

OK, is it just me or does the dude in the left picture look alittle like Greg's brother in law before the haircut and the pic on the right looks alot like Heath on the right and alittle like Greg in his trucker days...

Maybe its just me

And I guess back in the day I was listening to much Bryan Adams but who are these guys ( I know I am setting myself up for ridicule and utter humiliation)

And yes I was born and raised in Mississippi, Please excuse my ignorance.

Haven't seen the movie, but now I want to. I'll probably get it soon.

I missed out on Beanland. Not old enough. ;p I did hear Bill McCrory play with Widespread at Millsaps one time (i think).

Todd, have you listened to Cary Hudson? He is mentioned in the review for the DVD. His new solo CD is really good, very Mississippi. We saw him a few weeks ago and he is as good or better than Blue Mountain was.

I haven't but he's now on my list.

You either saw George on guitar (recently left the band) or JoJo on the keyboards (still w/ them) playing with Widespread. As far as I know, Bill quit the band to get married and did the reunion shows but never played with WSP. I could be wrong though. Bill's the guy on the right in the second photo -- rhythm chopper.

I've long held that Beanland re-invented the jam band scene and that it would have been better had WSP and Phish not overtaken them. And I'm old enough to have literally seen it happen. :D But nobody listens to me....

Must have been George. Leftover Salmon opened for WSP. Good show. I climbed over the fence in the back of the college to sneek b/c it was a private Frat show and one couldn't get tickets without the requisite dancin bear belt with kakis and a blue oxford button-down.

baaarrrrrffffffff!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(sorry Chris. The thought of Bryan Adams just does this to me.)[/QUOTE]

:D :D Me too. Word to the wise, don't request Cuts Like a Knife endlessly from the crowd at a Ryan Adams concert. He will come off the stage and he will punch you and you will deserve it.

That said, Brian Adams' sound guy is a Cruiserhead and a TLCA member. But I digress....

That was my fraternity. So that was you wearing the David Hasselhoff shirt?

Nope, I was the only guy with Doc Marten's. I also got made fun of during that show for smokeing Clove Cigerattes. Almost got my ass kicked at a Robert Earl show for the same thing. In retrospect cloves are kind of lame.

Did yall also get Violent Femmes? That was a cool show too.

I have never seen the Femmes in concert- I have always wanted to, though. That's about as heteroflexible as I get.
