I've never seen that one, looks pretty cool. I've used a new Turbo Tent that we bought online this year. I've been very pleased with it so far. We used it three nights in different locations in Colorado. Sets up quick and is the nicest quality tent I've ever owned. Www.turbotent.com

That's not very big for a family, and it is very expensive.

I think a 10x10 or 12x12 dome tent would be better at less than half the price.

If your kids are old enough, get two tents and let them sleep by themselves in one. You will all enjoy the independance.

Not sure how it would fare in wind. With single wall construction and no fly, it will not be warm and you will have to make sure that nothing touches the walls if it is raining.

I agree that it is not very big when you get right down to it. The tent I use solo when setting up a hunting camp for a few days or even just overnight on the move vehicle camping if someone is with me is 7x9. While I can and do certainly get by with less space when I need to, I am not sure how big an 8x10 will actually feel for a family fun campground campout (which is really what this tent is suitable for)

The detachable floor will complicate setup. As will the sleeves for the poles instead of external poles with clips.

And it is stupid expensive for what is there.

I don't see a lot of positives to it.

Is the tent for car camping or backcountry use? How many people will be using it? Are you looking for a tent you can stand up in? This would be quite a roomy 4 person tent. MSR also makes a great product. However for an all around use tent there are probably better ones out there, this seems better suited as an assembly space and not a family tent. It's also very pricey.

For some nice 4 person tents check out some of REI's tents and I also like the Marmot brand tents. I'd wait till spring because that's when all the new designs come out.

REI Hobitat 4, good price, good reviews, stand up

For the price of that you can pick up a 10x10 Springbar or Kodiak cheaper. Admitedly, they are much heavier than this barn tent, but you get a much studier tent.

Thanks guys. Base on your feedback and suggestions and further review I am passing on this tent.

You'll have to let us know what you wind up getting.

We use this Coleman tent for extended stays during events. It has held up to some pretty big rains without leaking. It's not a high-end tent, but it does the job and measures 10' x 16' with an interior height over 6'. Downside is that it does not pack down very small and weighs about 30lbs. $200 I've only used it in warm weather, but the windows zip up from the inside with the mesh being permanently fixed. The entire roof is mesh on the main tent structure, so condensation would probably not be an issue if used in winter. If my wife were into cold weather camping, this tent might get more year-round usage.

I can only find it at Target (probably a store specific model)

Video shot during GSMTR a couple years ago. No leaks.

I agree with CJLKR, best tent I've owned. Fits two queen air mattresses and space for gear up front. And that's just one of the two rooms. Yes, it's a little on the pricy side, but being to back the truck right up to the tent is a plus...

Worth every penny, and I'm considering buying a smaller model when it's just myself and one of my daughters. A little too big when the whole family doesn't go!

Dangit...wish I had payed closer attention to this one!

My local Jax Mercantile has that same MSR tent on demo clearance for $399 plus all of the proceeds go to the High Park fire victims. I am sure they could ship it if you are looking for one.

Thanks for the additional suggestions and input. I have yet to pull the trigger on a tent.

You left out a few details like how big your family is? the age of your kids, etc?

I camped out of a big Coleman that was 13 x 9 for a few years and my two kids and I had plenty of room. Still have it but I wanted something a little more weather worthy and went with an REI Base camp 6. It fits the 3 of us (two kids 15 and 12 and me) with cots fairly well. It would be tight with one more but I like a lot of room. It's a 6 person tent and would be fine with one more but like I said I like my space.

This tent is awesome in the weather. The first time I used it we had thunder storms with significant wind for the first 3 nights. I never worried about the tent and we stayed dry as a bone, but was definitely worried about a tree coming down on us. There was some serious wind. The tent never missed a beat.

I read a review about how someone was camped on the beach during a hurricane and ended up abandoning the tent. They came back after the hurricane and the tent was fine. Anyway it looks like the price went up a little but I got it on sale and it's well worth the money. And easy to setup and stow away fairly quickly once you get the hang of it. Good luck with your search.

Right. I did leave out some details. As of this moment, there are 3 of us...for now. Our son is just about 7-months and we plan to take him car camping with up this summer to a few local state parks.

I have looked at the REI base camp 6 and really like it. I am glad to hear you have had good success with it. That is the kind of space we will need. Personally, I am fine with the tight quarters of a 3-4 man tent, but I know my wife appreciates the extra space.

I appreciate everyone's feedback while I continue my tent quest.

There are 3 of us also. My daughter is 15 and my son is 12. Both of them are getting big so it's like 3 adults in the base camp 6. I also went with 3 cots in there instead of sleeping on the ground. The extra space is nice even though we don't spend a lot of time in there while camping. But on those days where we have to it's very nice having some extra room. Again, good luck on the quest.

For the same money, try the Cabela's Alaknak II 12 x 12.
True 4 seasons tent, hell for stout, serious wind capability.

When I bought mine I was at the Cabela's Sidney NE store.
I was looking at several large tents. Asked the kid which one to get, he says,
"You know, our gentle Nebraska breeze is blowing and we have all our tents set up out front, go have a look and tell me which one you want."
Went out and looked, every single one of the tents was flattened with the wind. Except the Alaknak.
I went back in and told him which tent I wanted.
