Backer Plate Eliminator

I marked it and used a drill stepper bit to go one step bigger. The Dremel wasn't really working as good.

Then I did a camo cut on the knuckle side about about a 1/2 inch wide. Basically leaving an opening to slide the hard line and soft line out without undoing the hard and soft line.

I also had to bend the backing plate brake line holder tab to make it in the same plane as the hard line fitting. Roughly parallel to the ground. originally it was closer to 45 degrees.

This works because the C clip prevents the soft line fitting from falling through the hole. Without the C clip it wouldn’t work. The reason for the hole is the LROR bracket is to thick and the U clip groove will not be visible/usable.

I ended up doing your idea also in a way. I ground down the edge a little bit on the braided line I have. It finally fits better so I can secure it with the clip. Also I made a brake line holder bracket gotta paint it and I think it’ll hold great and won’t bind up.

That would work.

New problem I have is the tab on the axle has the same problem.

I might have to grind down the middle lip to make it fit like you did. In hind sight that might have worked better on the eliminator bracket. Grinding down the middle bracket.

Picture below shows the eliminator bracket hole drilled bigger with the opening to keep the hard line and soft line connected if needed. I did not grind the female fitting on this side but in hind side I should have ground it down and then I would not have needed to make the hole bigger.

Picture below shoes the middle lip ground down and no C clip. I used a Dremel cut off wheel to cut the middle lip down and then ground it smooth with the Dremel stone.

That last picture looks pretty clean. I’m thinking if I’m upgrading all my lines and they all come like this it’ll have to be done. SMH. Wondering. Are these manufactured overseas for a different set up and we just don’t see the reference photos. There’s no way this is designed for these tabs. I’m really not trying to make the holes bigger on the axle tabs. Just hope all these connections and fittings last.

I tried to look online for a deeper female fitting with just one groove but couldn't find one stock with 2 female sides. Not sure on the origin of these types of fittings. But I think this might be the only option because with out the 2 grooves and grinding the middle lip the fitting will not sit deep enough into the brackets. I think your stainless steel line from axle to caliper is probably the better solution.

Isn't the hex larger than the hole in the eliminator bracket? Can't you remove the washer/C clip, then put the end in the bracket and slide the retainer on? Ref the pic below, I know this is a different location.

No, the problem is the there is the Hex, then a groove for the C clip then another Hex, then the groove for the U clip. One brake line had a hex pattern. One brake line was like an oval with the ends flat.
