Auto windshield wiper after windshield replaced

Cracked my windshield the other day. Had it replaced with OEM glass. Now while in “auto wiper” mode it wipes once when rig is started. Anyone have a solution? My dealer has no idea. Go figure.....
 
I found out he did not put a new Nell pad for sensor. This most likely the case. Will find out in a couple days.
 
@SQRRRL That is most likely the answer to your issue. Same thing happened to me as well as several others. I did a write-up on it a while back where I had to purchase the pad and install it.
 
I talked with a Lexus dealer who gave me the 411 on the pad. Why do people cut corners? Just makes more work in the end.
 
Well a new pad was installed with no change. When starting the LC the wipers will wipe once if in “auto” wiper mode. Am I wrong to think it did not do this before? Can anyone confirm on this issue “ I think” I’m having?
 
That doesn't sound normal to me. What happens if you disconnect the sensor? Many of us (myself included) have done this, the auto wipers are terrible. Disconnecting the sensor just turns them into typical delay wipers, which I prefer.
 
The “auto” wiper seems to work great for me in California. I guess it time to go to the dealer. If I DC the “auto” it will default to intermittent wiper mode?

If you pull the plug on the sensor, system acts like a normal variable-interval wiper. Rain on w'shield makes no difference.

My installer advised that the sensor needs to be in perfect contact with the inside glass or the system gets goofy.

Agree with the below. I disconnected the auto wipers right away, for regular intermittent use. The auto wipers were wacky in any sort of wet weather.

Well it’s fixed. I cleaned the windshield in front of the sensor and it work perfect. The film on the new glass was not cleaned off entirely and caused the malfunction . Here in Cali it works great with the little rain we get. I like it.

There is a very expensive chunk of clear gel-like material between the inner surface of the glass and the detection surface of the sensor. Like $25 for that little piece is a good deal, expensive.

Most installers should have the stuff on hand.
