I just got on the website and noticed that the caps are no longer on the website. What happened?

EDIT: I guess I don't know how to operate this internet thing. I found them. Any idea when you will have them back in stock?

We have a good contact in the broader off-road community who had designed and made them for us. For completely extraneous reasons, looks like they may not be able to deliver on more of them, and I am seeking a new provider for these, being very transparent there :-) Looking both at aluminum as well as thermoset.

These look great. I'll be picking one up soon.

Do you happen to know of any US manufacturers of tilting/adjustable antenna mounts? I've found a few in Australia.

Thank you!

We are going to start selling some soon. Those and a number of other comms accoutrements, and waiting on some suppliers.

Any word on these caps yet?

Bit of unfortunate drama. I'm not happy with the aluminum and possible galvanic corrosion. We have reverted to a thermoplastic/UV resistant design. I'm sorry I don't have an immediate date for you.

Working on the release of another antenna accessory which may release immediate before.

@Pskhaat any estimate when you'll resume taking orders and ship on the larger VHF antennas?

We are trying to deplete most remaining inventory at Cruise Moab this week. We will begin build immediately next week.

Great to hear that @Pskhaat, Is there some way to get notified electronically so that I know when an order can be placed? I tend to check in on your website every once and while and always have the bad luck of everything being sold out.

Not that I am complaining... I like your business model better than placing an order / paying up-front and then never knowing when a product will ship. Thanks

Funny and sad story all in one. Yesterday I got pulled over for speeding by a state trooper. He comes up to my car and asked if I did over sized load transport. Somewhat confused I said no, to which the trooper asked me what the thing on my front bumper was then. I told him it was a HAM radio antenna, to which he said " a what " so I said an amateur radio antenna, to which he said " what's that ". I was totally blown away that he didn't know what amateur radio was.

Yeah, in some spots, LE gets a bit confused on these!

I'm still waiting on the caps. Any more info on them?

Hi will you be restocking any 2m antennas?

At this time....no. But we will be revisiting in the future. The problem is minimum order quantities on the precision coils, not enough 2m/Ham folks were buying in comparison to GMRS (and even CB!).

We may have a few not in inventory though. Do you want to email at antennas@alamosa.mobi and can check for you.

If you need similar ruggedness 2 meter antennas, there are some out there that do survive harsh environments but they do not look like OZ style antennas. If you are looking for that .
Keep in mind you can also simply cut down a 102 inch whip to 19 inches and have a really pretty tough quarter wave setup
.

Plenty of options out there , none look like the OZ style

Thanks, I will check that out. For now the GMRS antenna I have from Alamosa will do. I am thinking of pairing it with the Wouxon 1000 radio. I have 2 handhelds that I got for us and the missus.

Just realized I never jumped in this chat after getting my antenna last summer before a trip to Cruisers on the Rockies! Performed flawlessly in the San Juans, but still have yet to get it out to the desert to and push it a bit.

Have since picked up an adjustable base and bought caps to remove the antenna when not in use, so it's low profile for everyday activities but easy to throw on when needed. All in all I love the antenna and the service from Alamosa.

Looks great! I see you did the grille tilt mod so it will clear the antenna base and spring. I like they way the grill looks after the mod.
