Yes indeed, I have to remember to turn the pump off again...
But how much does this ECU cost? I don't have a second gauge. My aux tank is equally big as my main :)
1200kms with the 80!! That's handy :)

I bought mine about eight years but I think the cost is less than $30.

Can you tell me more about your aux tank? Custom built or over the shelf purchased?

It's a main tank from a landcruiser 70, placed where the spare wheel was.
Now I have 2x 85liters :)

Does the setup from George also work with the old style sub tank switch?
And where can you buy the old style switch? Cost?

Ok, I'm just going to post my experience here. Could be handy for some people in the future.

The difference between the sub tank switches is not only depending on the year of your landcruiser. The large button that only fits the old dash, was only for diesels. They have a totally different sub tank system.
That switch is NOT momentary! That is because the (only the early?) diesel sub tank system works this way: if you push the button you use diesel from your sub tank. Else you use diesel from your main. So there is no pumping from the sub to the main tank.
That is why this button is not momentary.

But the good news is you can use this switch in your own sub tank system where you use a small 12v pump the pump the diesel form the sub to the main tank.
Push the button and it starts pumping. The button stays a little inwards. Push it again and power is interrupted.
BUT you cannot use the ECU from George because this only works with a momentary switch...
So if anyone needs a ECU, I have one :) (I live in Europe)

Some pics or it didn't happen:

You can still order the socket that fits the switch. If you have a friendly toyota guy :)

Fitted in the dash. Next to my 4 switches :)
1. fog lights on bumper
2. roof lights
3. rear roof lights
4. activate front winch
(I've used the antenna switch as winch control :) and have a fiberglass antenna)
I'm gonna put some stickers above the switches with a logo that explains their use.
I've searched for square switches that go better with the oem switches (with a round opening) but no luck. I'm not going the make a square opening in the dash. Too difficult :)

Looking good! Bummer about the switch being maintained on vs momentary. Is there a way to turn it into a momentary switch? Are your defrost or CDL switch momentary style switches? If so, maybe look to see how they're made and do the same thing with your sub tank switch. Looks like you could possibly just use another defrost button, if momentarily, to activate George's ECU.

On a side topic, does the 70 tank fit in that space nice and snug? Can you give us some pics?

Defrost button and CDL aren't momentary either. No momentary switches on my 80 :)
Will take some pics of fuel tank system... Try to remember it this weekend :)

I just checked my switches and none of them momentary either. :bang:

Looking forward to seeing your tank since I've never seen a 70 series tank under a vehicle.

Does anyone have the part number for the diesel sub tank button for 95+ dash? Assuming the diesel of that era still uses the latching type switch to activate the two solenoids.

thanks
Andrew

I've been informed that it may be 84520-60030

Anyone know for sure?

I can confirm 84520-60020 is the momentary switch used with the gasser ecu/pump as that's the one I bought and it's not latching.

Here are the two available...side by side...

By drilling down on Partsouq via a sample chassis of HZJ80L-GCMNS (1996-1998 hzj80) it comes back with 0030. Looks good to me!

84520-60020 - Petrol momentary sub tank button (96 style dash)
84520-60030 - Diesel latching sub tank button (96 style dash)

Just as a FYI, if one was needing a latching relay, here's one I bought from Amazon. I needed a latching relay to work with a momentary PB in my 4runner

Amazon product ASIN B07VL9DBGT

I can confirm without a doubt, 84520-60030 is the correct new style dash button for the Diesel sub tank setup. I received it today from Partsouq and it's latching.
