Do you know what size space we have to work with?
What size raised bed are they invisioning? or multiples?
Is this area established as a garden or is this the start of the community garden?
(just wondering if we will have turf removal requirements)

Triangle Landscape supplies has a location that should serve durham and have great products.
Ill call Jeff and see if its in his delivery range or where his closest locale is.

a little premature but we could pick up cool season veggies to put in if they are available yet

Ill have shovel, rake, pick, wheelbarrow, drill, ext cord, tarp, blower, and a BFH :D

vegies

I can check with Fowlers Nursery outside of Smithfield to see if they have any cool season vegies . If we can get some info on the what they want in the flower beds Im sure we can up with something cool!

I'm excited about this project!

How many confirmed members do we have?

I can't make this. The six hour round trip and the fact that it most likely will be my first day off for over a month is weighing in on my decision. (typing this as I sit at work.)

Maybe next year we can do something closer to this way.

I would like to help and will be bringing my apprentice. ;)

Any idea when we should plan to meet?

Hell, if Lil' Clint is coming, we might only have to watch :) Looking forward to it, where you been lately Clint?

Guys im out. Blew a birf...... i mean Knee.
Doctor says I cant even be a shovel leaner aka supervisor for this one.

All my tools will be available if someone wants to grab them from the GSO area.
I will try and communicate with Joy this week to get a better understanding of the area we are dealing with and the requirements to complete the raised bed. I feel we need an understanding of each task involved to make our time their efficient. Ill post up what details she can give us like whether we need to plan for turf removal, remulching, etc around the garden.

Let me know if I can help organize materials or deliveries. Boost retard might have some items as well if someone from East RDU could swing by and meet him.

Ouch man. That sucks to hear. What are you going to have to have to fix it and make it right ? Do we have any times or anything yet for meeting up ? And what do us laborers need to bring besides gloves and the like ?

Had to have surgery asap to repair ACL and miniscus :(

gloves and lots of water, should we plan for a bring your own bag lunch or group pizza order.
I will talk to Joy and try and find out more on monday......got me a lil free time :(

Hey Guys - sorry for being a little quiet...
Joy will be out of town this week - Jimmie Collins is the new contact if you have further questions 477-0592 or on-cal 943-7472 - he will also be the guy there on Sat.

The plan is to be at Maple Court @ 9:00

As far as the planter - it's 6x12 (see pic)
If we can fill it w dirt and seasonal veggies that would be great! (not mandatory)

She does not have any lumber - but is willing to go send Jimmie to grab some (or we can bring some w us - prob need about $100 worth for planters + night stands) We need to decide if we want to float it or ask them to do it...

That's what I know. Do we want to pick up the lumber or have them provide it?
Depending on the wood selected for nightstands - do we want to paint them?
Hate that I can't be there - this looks like it 's going to be fun!

dirt

I will be there for sure. If we need to move dirt I can haul the dump trailer from Havelock up there so we can get dirt moved. I will also bring wheel barrows, shovels, rakes, blower and other random stuff. I will check with a wholesale nursery in the clayton area I deal with to see if we can get some vegetables or plants for the beds.

Who is in charge of the group of us going to work? If that person would let me know if we need any landscaping stuff by weds I would be great.

Looking forward to it.

Guys, I think I'm out on this one. I've had something come up, and will be down in Wilmington this weekend. But, I'll see everyone at Uwharrie...

Garrett has a soccer game sat at 10am, so we will head over as soon as it's over. I sliced my finger open last week working on the wife van, but got my stiches out yesterday, so i won't be 100% but i can still work some. let me know what i need to bring. Will we have access to any electric for the tools, or do i need to bring my little 1000 watt generator.

Officially out.... got to work all weekend again. 1 month without a day off and counting.

who is in charge of this event? How many members are attending? Im a new guy just want to know who I should report to when I show up. I'm still brinning all my landscape stuff and my dump trailer. See yall sat

Jared set this up (see first post), but I don't think he can make it. If he doesn't post up today or tomorrow, I will try calling him to get any last minute info.

I will be there with my son and I don't think you'll have any trouble finding us. Just look for the group of Land Cruisers. You are welcome to PM me and we can exchange phone numbers.

Garrett and I at a minimum will head that way as soon as the soccer game is over. In all reality we should be there around noon.

Darin,

Sorry to hear, and I hope you heal well and soon. 60's are replaceable, glad you got the better end of that bargain but sorry to hear of the loss of a good friend.

I am not going to be able to make it as well. I start physical therapy tomorrow and am not supposed to be driving until next week :( My tools and trailer are still available if it helps and someone from the GSO direction can grab them. I will see if I cant get some lumber donated from a client for the raised garden (we still need to clarify if they need/want a second one or just the current one planted) but I will need help (like someone do it for me) loading it tomorrow or saturday am.

Adam if you dont want to haul the trailer that far, Triangle Landscape Supplies has a location in Durham and Jeff will give you a fair rate on a great soil product. I would get the 50/50 blend or superblend if he has it and we wanna spend on it.
